Anyone have a guide to what they should/ shouldnt be? dont have any problems with the way it is at the moment, just thinking perhaps it coulkd be better.
Am 6ft tall and about 16.5 17 stone and can get both feet fully planted on the floor.

Any help appreciated

front = middle

rear = 3/4 wound up.

depends how many miles its done - but you're a lard arse - so thats your starting point :D :thumb

thanks for the info
when you say front middle is that the height adjustment or the preload?

:nenau PS was a power lifter for 5 years so not exactly lardy! although after a serious bike accident 5 years ago cant lift that much anymore:nenau

same thing :thumb

oops - just going by the rest of 'em on here

1100 adjustment?

Mine? Front Spring Adjust with 'C' Spanner. 1. comfort? 2. Loaded? 3. OffRoad. Rear? Your preload in a screw located in the bottom of the Shocker, ok! The Black Nob is Hieght Adjustment. I'm 6'4" 18? stone ( Built like an Outhouse Dunny)? This is what I have found? At 77,000ks all still fine. I run, solo Frt on 1. Rear Screw 1/2 way between - & +! Hieght 1/4 way. For a fang or, with Towing my loaded Trailer to a Rally. Front 2. Rear screw the same Hieght up 3/4.
Now I found Front on 3. Rear on all the way? To hard for the Bush even and BAD on the Road! ( Over steer on Bends at High speed, so don't get tempted to think a GS will Handle better wound all the way. Mine will kill you)! My trailer has a load wieght of around 100kilos and a Ball wieght of under 10 kilos. The panniers are loaded and fitted. Its good. This is what I found harrisn. We are a close size? Jim - i'm sure the rear black knobby thing is preload only and the small screwy thing is the damping adjuster.

sure - preload is a 'sort of' height adjuster - but its a load compensator really.
adjust damping to suit a combination of load and speed :thumb

Damping

Preloads are dead easy to adjust, the 1/3 law and you get it nearly perfect.

But strangely, i find it's damping that is overkilled on 1100GSes. People say it's telelever taking more than average feedback from the road compared to regular fork shocks, but i find it's acctually the rear side kicking your arse (we have very shitty roads here) much more. Shaft drive effect? Mostly i run on damping adjusted to minimum to make the ride smooth as possible on "sharply" kicking roads.

Also it helps to put the front to "offroad" ("Gelände", 4th or 5th click) mode, i find this also notoriously reduces the feedback from very sharp bumps (probably optimizes telelever's angle for such use?) from the rear like a corrugations on our gravel roads. Don't know why, but also on offroad mode, if the front is higher, it builds up more confidence in me taking the curves, just feels like i have more control. How is it with you lot, you prefer the "Strada" (1st or 2nd click) settings on the curvy roads?

To add Trailer Drama?..

Settings and Trailers I have found when Towing the Trailer the ABS locks up the rear wheel ?. To compensate for this I have gone to No.3 setting on the front. It works.
The Trailer narrows the Road you can use, so yes it does slow you down? Fuel consumption is up. '
So I just sold my trailer!! I'm solo and just don't need it?
Ride well and arrive. BIGJim Tasmania. :beerjug:
