Hi All,
Has anyone ever experienced the handlebars shaking as if the front wheel is buckled,
The front wheel has been off and checked on a balance machine all test ok and tyre is in good order.
Any ideas.

Do you get the shaking when you apply the front brakes?

...if so...have checked that the front brake discs are not buckled?

Had to replace both of my discs last year for this very reason.

Just an idea...

Brakes seem ok running free, not binding and flat disks.
Nice bike mate same as mine how cool are they.

Could be if the front tire is over-inflated

any play in the bearings? Is the shock knackered?
Describe shaking? - Tank Slapper shaking or vibrations or somewhere in-between?

Tyre is inflated to manual, handlebars very gently shake very much like a buckled wheel, front shock seems to be ok, wheelbearings and ball joint ok.

check fork alignment, if got a know or drop or even bad pothole can twist them in the mounts, loosen bolts, then regithten them back up

do this while on centre stand and front wheel off ground

Have you Tourance tyres on the bike Westlake? There have been some posts before from guys that reckon that they sometimes get a bit of a shake from their front tyre.

Will check fork leg alignment and yes have got tourance tyres but wheel has been on balance machine

Have you got Conti road attacks on? I've had these twice and both times they have produced exactly that effect on my, and my mates GSs. When they're worn (especially if they've been used in a 'spirited' fashion) they feel like you've spent the day riding through 4ft deep potholes and buckled your wheel, especially at very low speed.

Sounds like a front tyre problem to me in any rate

Have you got Conti road attacks on?

If you've had the trye checked and it's all in balance and there's no buckle, easily checked spinning the wheel in the forks with a straight edge or a point for reference

as mentioned check the forks are aligned properly if i remember correctly the best way to sort this out is

loosen bolts connecting the forks to the bike, (top yoke, lower yoke and wheel) have them hand tight

bounce the front a couple of times and starting from the top yoke torque up the bolts bouncing the front end a couple of time as you do each set of bolts

loosen the front wheel axle and axle clamps. Run the bike back and forth a few feet a couple of times applying the brake hard. Then tighten everything back up again. Cured the similar problem that I had.

Conti road attacks exactly the same for me, 30-40mph hand off and a gentle shake.
