While out in Wicklow yesterday I noticed that the nearside fork seal is weeping. I will order a new one on Monday and fit it during the week all being well, but I have one or two questions for anyone who has fitted them before.

Are there any wee tricks which will make the job easier/quicker?

Are there any hidden bolts etc that I may overlook which will make a one hour job a full day job?

If I am unable to get a new fork seal in the next day or two would I do much harm by going on a 1000 mile touring rally this weekend? I have toyed with the idea of leaving the job until after that event.

Thanks in advance. :)

Good man yourself TJW. :thumb2

I don't recall having seen that thread first time around. :o St Eptoe strikes again. :) :)

Aidan,
There is no harm to be caused by running a wee while with a wee weep,
Bin

I did consider just running on with it Bin, but seeing from St Eptoe's thread that it is only a 10/15 minute jobbie I will get a seal tomorrow and get it done. :)

The things to check are have you a 6-sided socket for the self-locking nut holding the top of the fork into the triple-clamp (which cabn be very tight), and have you the allen-key for the air-bleed screw.
