Hi all :beerjug:
I've just swap the original GS1150 rear shock absorver by the Adventure one.
The first change is that the adv shock is larger witch means that the bike is now some centimeters taller.
Does anybody have information of any others diferent features and results?
Any experience with that mod?

Thanks for your replies :)

..yeah... change the stands or the buggers gonna fall over.... :D

I've completed this swap as well. I was advised to do the front shock as well. so for the extra £30, I did it. (it's REEEAALLY easy to change).
I put a note on the site and found someone to swap stands with.
Thank god we met up to swap them over, because it turned out we had to swap the stand brackets as well as the stand; as there was a slight difference. It would have been a real pain trying to sort it our through the post!

I thought that I would notice a real difference afterward, but I find its the shape of the Adv seat is the key to the way the bike feels! feel free to drop me a line if you want to chat about it tho'!!!!

Think it depends on the year... the pre 97 1100's seem to have a different sidestand as well ... i theenk.... :)

mmm

I looked at doing this on my last GS and was told by the workshop lads that i would cause damage as the driveshaft and swingarm are slightly longer. I know from experience that the driveshafts have different splines so they can't be mixed up.
When I got the GSA and had the Ohlins rebuilt for that bike the shock man ordered the Ohlins shaft and it was only 7mm longer than the GS one he took out - thats all about fulcrums int it!

I should check on the consequences

The GSA has a longer driveshaft, but not a longer swingarm, this gives greater interference / overlap at full suspension travel.

But I doubt if it has great implications in normal riding, but yes a nice to have.

Confused, or you are, this is about 1150,s? The 1100 has completely different lower shock mounts to my knowledge?
