GS12 doesn't want to Wake Up

The last couple of mornings, I've put the key in the ignition and turned it on, and got nothing, alarm stays on, dashboard doesn't come to life. Wiggle the key and it eventually wakes the bike up and away we go as normal.
Its most probably the ignition switch or the wires to/from it, my question is could it be the ring antenna, is this a symptom of it failing? Or even if it fails, does the dashboard still light up?

Sounds more like the micro switches on the bottom of the ignition to me. With the ring antenna everything works but it won't start and gives you an error on the dash.

What year is the bike? It could be a broken wire in the loom where it is cable tied to the handlebars

Mine did this. WD40 down the keyhole helps short term, long term you need a new microswitch, as previous post said. Very easy job to do, as long as you have either a very short, or very long screwdriver!

Thanks for the help, a good squirt of ACF50 down the keyhole and all was well this morning but a new switch will be ordered.

Juat doing mine, must be the season for them to fail.

It started playing up again, works most of the time but needs replacing. Wh knwows when it will finally give out...

So here's a thing...
I did not have a lot of time to swap out th eswitch, but did have a "dry run" to make sure I have got the rght tools and what needs to come out of the way. I went through ever decreasing Torx bits on extensions until I found that my handy Torx10 screwdriver is the one for the little screws that hold the switch in place. I also found that the screws were loose. It took 3 full turns to nip them up to a gentle finger tight. Could it be that the loose screws allow the switch to drop a bit, and so not quite engage on the bottom of the lock barrel?
I'm going to leave this for a short while to see if I get any more issues; it may be worth checking your screws too for sprinng for the new switch. Don't give them a gorilla twist - they only screw into plastic so it is easily stripped.
