Just wondering if anyone has fitted the above? I don't want to fit the RAM mount to the bars, so the options seem to be a) Get the RAM parts to allow mounting of the swivelly ball type things (technical term! ) onto the rail above the clocks, or b) buy the purpose designed mount from Motorrad concepts which fits to the top rail above this one. I think that the latter option will probably make for a neater, more original looking option, what do you guys/gals think?

One other quesition please. As far as hardwiring the power connections, can anyone recommend the easiest/neatest option. a) using the supplied power cable to go back to battery or rear of accessory socket or b) use a specialised "piggy back" connector (also from Motorrad)

Appreciate any advice or suggestions. BTW the Zumo seems like a great bit of kit, used it in the car today (the 550 comes with an in car adaptor with speaker integrated) It was much better than the factory unit that I have in my Audi!!. Will need to decide on trying to get a bluetooth adadptor for helmet as BMW have "suspended" their own one for now? Or whether to think about adding something like an Autocom and hardwiring through this. (Should keep me busy for a while anyway)

Cheers:beer:

Motorradconcepts mount.

Here's the thread I posted a while back with some pictures of the Zumo fitted to my R1200GS.

Cheers!

Tried a number of different mounts and finally settled on the supplied handlebar mount even though the motorrads mount looks the best.
Went for the handlebar mount cos its easier to use the phone/mp3 and operate the functions on the Zumo without stretching over the bars.

There is also this solution with my mount:

Thanks for the reply Jonothan, the mount certainly looks very neat. I think this is slightly different to the one for the Adventure which fits to the top rail above, but I cannot see why the one you have would not work. Great photos BTW, it really helps. Did you harwire yourself? If so, where did you take the feed from? Many thanks.

Gazza, that looks really neat too and would save a bit dosh to go towards top box! I'll try mine in this positions tonight! Cheers

Thanks for info Michel, I like this idea also as it retains the RAM mount flexibility. Decisions, decisions!!!

I had the unit wired in by the BMW dealer. Direct to the battery using the fused lead enclosed in the Zumo box.

That cost me another £60 but the mechanic took the tank and much of the panelling off and fastidiously ran the wires along the existing loom, using proper BMW cable ties. He soldered the O-Rings on the end of the wires, connected it to the battery with the fuse for the Garmin convenient located behind the battery. It looks like a factory fitted job.

I think that you'll find that the fitting is identical on the GSA.
