Right might be the wrong place for this looking at F650gs Dakar 2002
want it for some green lane, overseas i.e. germany India russia £3400 from private boxi's & full service history, of course it is the single engine im sure the rotax)

however I still have a little niggle getting that when there is the new F650 GS

I know the Daker is a bit more for green lane work supposed to be more sturdy than the F650 the question is which is better or will the new F650 do all the above + a bit more

On the plus side the F650 is via a dealership so would have warranty, but no boxi's so would have to buy them & the belly plates etc

comments welcome

It IS the wrong place, this is the 650/800 twins section.

There's a separate section for 650 singles somewhere...

sorry I am dyslexic have to type in word change spieling then past

right which would be better for traveling on Tarmac & some green lane & rough conditions.

the New F650GS 2008 (TWIN) or the Dakar 2002 as I have been lead to believe the Dakar is was made for more green lane

I think either would be fine. The F650 is a good all round bike but possibly more biased towards road use and if that's where you spend most of your time it wil lbe happy enough. The Dakar was an upgraded version of the standard model and more set up for dirt so if you're going to be green laning a lot then maybe this would be a better bike for you. I've actually not owned either so maybe other people can offer better advice but I have the 800 and the engine and chassis are top notch and I'm nothing but happy with my bike. I've not heard any complaints about the Dakar and the engine is meant to be very solid and while delivering better fuel economy it's not quite as powerful although in the real world neither one will leave the other standing.
