I have a 2007 GS adventure... not had it long. I filled it up when i git it, and run it till the fuel guage said almost empty.... yesterday i went out for a ride, the trip showed i had done 190 miles and the fuel guage was 2/3 bars off empty, so i filled it up again... only look £13 under 14 liters. whats going on? i thought they had a 33 ltr tank. do i need to just ignore the fuel guage?

My 07 GSA fuel gauge is crap, I can go out do 70 miles and I have more fuel in when I get home than when I started. Ive had it looked at the last 3 servicings and I still don't trust it. I use the trip on the speedo every time I fill up, you should be good for 350miles on a full tank depending on how you ride !!!!

I dont trust my 09 GSA gauge either. It's a rough guide at best. 400 mile range if you are taking it easy. 350 if you are winding her up. Keep that in mind and you wont go wrong.

I agree with prev. posts and can get 35 ltrs in with 10 miles left according to the guage JJH

thanks god its not just me them.... i always zero the trip when i fill up anyway, so will now co it the olf fasioned way

thanks

35 lts in mine too when bone dry  Funny thing is the fuel guage started off pretty good and has got progresivley worse over time! Don't mind tho as its just another quirk :aidan

when you find out how the barmy thing works you can then see why it goes up `an down more times than a whore`s knickers, it siphens from right to left so it drops then goes up and if you stop for awhile as its doing this and the bikes on side stand you end up with more in the left that right for a while and your gauge reads more! brill isnt it!:ronno

Mine works well and is very accurate, on the rare occasion it may throw a wobbly, normally if sloshed around on eurotunnell / ferry etc

How are you riding???
400 miles on a tank is very conservative riding.
But what I find more amazing is it only drops off to 350 if your ragging the arse of it.
350 miles is what I get on average from normal (motorweay) riding
For me to get close to a 400mile range then I have to maintain a constant throttle circa 4000rpm, very conservative riding.
However, if I rag it then the range will drop to around 190 - 220miles.

We obviously have a very different definition of "winding her up"

You cannot rely on the trip computer unless you reset the mpg and avg speed after each fill.
The best rule of thumb is the 10mile/litre equation.
But bear in mind the GSA tank if filled from bone dry is 37litres. So you should always have a couple in reserve.

Riding home last night, guage showed lowish tank, range 89miles (seemed about right). This morning, showed half full, 250 mile range. Coming home this evening, full tank, 340 mile range! Put 15 litres in on the way home, still full!

Fuel gauges

I have oput an adventure tank on my 1150, this of course puts the fuel gauge out of sinc so I just reset the speedo trip when filling up. If you feeling worried put a gallon in a can and run it till it runs out and note the reading on the trip you'll then be 100% safe and never run out.

I seem to have had a software update. Used to show full right after taking to the garage, now takes a good 5 miles to creep up after its recent service!

slowcoach

i regulary get 240 miles from my 56 reg gs,thats with rarely going over 4k revs
still seem to do tons of overtaking though ;)

mine does all the above (except the one thats workin)
