shouldnt think you have much to worry about, bike will still be under bmw warranty.:beerjug:

apart from that load on my wallet everything that is on my 09 should transfer to the 11

anyone any suggestions on aftermarket seats i have looked at nippy normans but they only do sargent seats upto 08 model still awaiting answer back from them on whether they will fit 11 plate

The sargent seat will fit all 1200GS's from 2004 up to 2012.

If you have aftermarket headers on the '09 they will not be compatible with the '11 because of the exhaust valve.

AFAIK, everything that fits a 09 GSA, will fit the new GSA, apart from the exhaust silencer can (OEM or aftermarket).

But why swap? IMHO, the 08/09 GSA is the best example made to date...

Common problems to look out for on the 2010-2012 GS's, are exhaust valve sticking, and stalling issues.

a complete aftermarket system - headers and can from a 04 - 09 GS/GSA will fit the new model. It just negates the power valve (just disconnect the cables).

I know because i fitted my old Remus headers and can (09 GSA) to my mates 10 GSA..:thumb2

No the 2010 ....... is far superior in the engine and gearbox department and has the uprated final drive with vent valve etc.

The engine doesn't stall and the exhaust valve doesn't stick - where have you heard or read this?

Power valves stick when they are not serviced (dry lubricant etc). The twin cam has more top end power, but removing the power valve will reduce the mid range which is where the GS usually scores over many other bikes.

Hi Eon..went from a 07 GSA to a 2010 GSA Twin cam..everything fitted over, I use Varios etc. Funny, just washed it after this weekend’s run, stood back (Like we all do!) and thought best bike ever had. Just over 2 years old 21,000, only thing I would change it for? prob the new 90th anniversary GSA. No troubles with the bike. But the best thing for me has to be the Twin Cam engine:thumb2

No, i cant agree with you there. These issues are well documented here, and i have two mates with DOHC's, who have had these recurring problems.

For me, the DOHC upgrade wasn't/isn't enough for me to change up from my well sorted 09 GSA.

However, the new WC GS just might tempt me when it arrives next year....if they make a GSA variant.

As an option.. a Hilltop remap will give pretty much the same feel to the '09 bike as is with the twin cam.

For the price to change to a new bike I was able to add Wilbers ESA, buy lots of bits and bobs and still have kitty in the travel budget.

Stuck another 23k on it over the past few months, jobs a good 'un :thumb

That's interesting Yonkyo, but would that work if you just wanted to fit aftermarket headers and retain the standard silencer?

Bollocks, some geezers do write some shite on here:blagblah

No Bob,

They changed the male and female flanges around ( bastards ) it's all or nothing.

Yes, thats exactly right..:thumb

You can not fit just the headers or just the can from a pre-2010 GS.

1100 riders when you pass them.

And the Butterfly valve on the exhaust is prone to sticking so make sure it is well oiled.

I have a 2010 and the exhaust valve sticks when turning the ignition on for the first time in a day.

Changing from 3rd to 2nd, when giving a blip of the throttle, in many instances, will cause the mother of all valve knocks (left cylinder), and in two instances the engine has stalled, once just as I had entered a roundabout.

I also suffer from the "lost 10 litres", which until I stick a spare can of fuel in the topbox, I am not going to fully investigate.
Once enough evidence is collected, Bahnstormer (Alton) will try a fuel pump swap out.
It has already the sender replaced.

Oh, and in two instances I have found a false neutral between 5th and 6th :O

I thought that the 11 was smoother when did a run from Brighton to the m25 and back on the 09 my left hand went to sleep and that has been a recurring problem and its only £10 a month to change
