GSA BMW Panniers - Finish Quality vs Vinyl Wrap

Hey people! picked up my new GSA recently. Very happy with it except all the panniers had stains on. 2x were quite bad. I was not expecting stains out of the box. The dealer has been very good and have/are exchanging but knowing how these boxes stain and mark really easily has anyone wrapped them in vinyl yet? I've seen a few pics of them wrapped in matt black vinyl and they look quite good, although a bit dark. I prefer the metal silver without the marks.

Anyway I'm just looking for people's experience with these being stained and marked from the factory and/or peoples experience of wrapping them? Any pics?

Lots of people have wrapped them and also painted them. Have a search in the Hexhead section where you might have a better chance of getting topics.
 
I wrapped my top box with some pre cut sheets of black vinyl from signature cd. They also do some clear vinyl, if you want the metal look, but the luggage has to be 100% perfect, or it'll look shite.
 
Mine have marked up instantly!! Your best be is to use a protection clear vinyl from day 1!!
 
For crying aloud people. It's a fucking adventure bike. Ride the damn thing and stop worrying about ""stains". ��

Funny how the more expensive the items - you know to make them more rugged---the more they are molly coddled and then in 12 months time are sold as nearly new, in fantastic condition at 1/3rd of the price...Why not just use them as is and then sell them at the same price...Oh, hold on...thanks for subsidising my own bling acquisition...

Not everyone wants to trash their £15-18000 GSA with dirt and mud. I don't. I bought because I like the ride, the looks, the gadgets, storage. BMW panniers cost around £1400 and they should not be marked at all from new. It's shoddy manufacturing and a cheek to be honest.

You are having your panniers exchanged by the dealer's, as you rejected them. Job done. Get over it. Move on.

As to wrapping, polishing to shine like a billion suns or scratched, dented and caked in mud from the pistes (or just scratched on a bush in the drive)..... It's all down to personal taste and - to some degree or another - time, money, keenness or laziness and, maybe even whether SWMBO (and mates) think it's a good idea.

Bods often claim that their bike makes a statement about them as the owner; chose whatever statement you want to make about yourself, expressing it through your awesome steed. It's your bike, your money, your life. Get on with it.

Had top box changed and within a week top is all tarnished. It's never seen rain or been on the bike outside. Getting over it as you say is why I'm asking the question to see if wrapping best suits my needs.
 
Thought forums were about friendly people sharing same interest and ideas. Is it necessary to start swearing and ganging up against those of us who see things differently? How about those of you who contribute nothing to this stay out of this? Then there would be no bad feelings or arguments. :)
