GSA demo today

Ok, before I get flamed, I've never ridden the GSA as the size of the bike and looks have not appealed to me personally, I've never had the need for a larger fuel tank as 180 miles is more than enough before I take a break BUT I see various posts about lc owners wanting to change over. Just wondering what the main differences are and what I'm missing? Is the ride much different?

Emperors new clothes.:augie:D

For me.. But We are all different..
Larger nicely engineered Alloy fuel tank with longer range.. (Regular return 170 mile trips without filling up)
Very balanced planted weight distribution
Smooth engine power delivery
Rider protection from the elements, air flow (& rain) round knees is a big advantage
Comes with aux lights, engine bars & luggage racking as standard compared to the Gs WC, worth the extra cost.. (IMHO)
Bigger screen & winglets an advantage ( not as much protection as my 2011 GSA Tc but when it's hot u need a bit of air flow)

There must be bits I've forgotten..!

My Wife found out today via our estate agent that I had bought a new GSA WC ! Said when's Robbo picking up his New GSA saw it reserved in the Dealers  I had forgotten to mention it , imagine how the evening has been :D See Estate Agents ARE Cnuts !!:D:augie

Entertaining, lol..!
Brave man... Very brave..
I wonder how the weekend atmosphere is gonna be..?

She'll be fine, you're buying her a new house!:D

Thanks for the response Phil, in future I'll try riding the GS and GSA back to back and see how it feels. I see your point about adding extras, sometimes it's cheaper just to buy it fully loaded.

I picked my GS LC up from Allan Jefferies at lunchtime and absolutely love it :D

It's comparatively light, nimble, handles well, the ESA works brilliantly, the speedo is much easier to read than my old RT and it goes like stink.

I don't understand the comment about the lack of torque in top gear - the roll-on performance is excellent and in a different league to my 2009 GS, never mind the old 1150 :nenau

Totally agree..
& the more u ride it the better it becomes..
I'm adding an akrapovic tomorrow as I fancy a little more noise than standard to hopefully help with city filtering, & also on order are the optional foot pegs, which, incidentally are the same as standard GSA WC pegs, approx £100 a pair with springs.

A man after my own heart. I always said that it is easier to receive forgiveness than it is to get permission.:D

surpassing a Triumph Explorer's I also had a look at, my wife said that she felt v.comfortable on the pillion and could see better. The speedometer was irritating as the numbers are small. Overall I liked it, but then, as in a previous post I went back to the 1150 and felt v.sentimental and er, loving towards it (!) So, what do I do? (that's a rhetorical question)

I bought a brand new launch model Explorer at £12500. Kept it 5 months , decided it wasn't for me , and got offered £8200 by the dealer I bought it from:mad: After much haggling ended up only losing £3500 in 5 months, so if you go for one expect residuals to drop faster than Felix Baumgartner ;)

The ADV is a much better bet :thumb2

You could have bought a nice used 1100/1150GS for that or been halfway to a good 1200GS

"now with the advent of the 1000 which is a natural progression of the 800 which will satisfy the need for speed bunch has the boxer wizzed it's last model ?"

Just catching up and I read this comment. Any other stories about an enlarged F800, the Husky 900 was a superb development of the GS800 and it would be a shame for BMW to put it to one side.

Congrats, Sven.:thumb I don't get the torque thing either, as the LC has it, in spades.

Get the full Akra system, and unleash the beast.:D

At Bahnstormer yesterday, they had the LC GSA parked next to the twin cam GSA, and the new one was noticeably smaller.:rob
