The GSA is being launched on 15 March, but my dealer is telling me that he is not allowed to do any handovers until Monday 17 March - apparently this is an instruction from BMW GB.

This sounds like a load of bollocks to me. Anyone else being told the same? Alternatively, is anyone having a handover on 15 March? I'm travelling back to the UK for that weekend specifically to get the bike and it is a pita to have to stay an extra day on the Monday just to fit around the dealer.

If it interfere's with your plans, as a customer shelling out a huge amount of cash on a bike, can't you check with BMW UK to get their take on it.

I had a loosely similar experience buying the wife's car a few months back. The dealer said they don't do Saturday handovers as a company policy and I am away all week and wanted to be there, so just mentioned there where other places I can buy a Fiat 500 from and get it on a Saturday and so they agreed to do it on a Weekend.

If I knew who to call at BMW, I would be on the phone right now. I think this is just fiction from my dealer because he doesn't want to do any handovers on launch day.

They'll want all the prospective punters to be able to sit on, poke about and stick their grubby mitts all over your bike during the launch day....hence the delay :D

I was told today that delivery for my GSA would 22 May?! I placed the £500 deposit in October. I'm starting to wonder why I bothered putting down a deposit? It is refundable, so I might just take them up on it... as I'm starting to get bored now.

I'm interested to know why the bike is being launched in the UK 6 weeks after the rest of the world.:nenau

They'll probably get their Mudslings earlier, too. Sometimes life just ain't fair.

Now, get on and help jtb sort out his problem with (allegedly) lying dealers abusing a posse member. He's wearin' the colours (or soon will be) and is bein' dissed... A call to arms and real assistance, as clear as 'What panniers?'....

Ah, the leaden hand of wapping. I just wanted to know if anyone else had been spun this line, is all. I've told the dealer that handover needs to be the Saturday, end of. Otherwise, as pointed out by ash700, what's the point in advance ordering?

What's the point of advance ordering... So you get yours before telbenj and apparently Ash700 (he's really pissed off)..... That's just a guess mind.

Have you contacted BMW Customer Services yet? You had a head start on that yourself, before the helpful tip you received from Flufmeister to your plaintive appeal in this thread, did you not?

Send a detailed email to [email protected]. You'll get a reply from a named cs exec within about 48 hours, and a case number. Once you've got a case number you are in play.....

Did it not cross your mind that the same email address might work to contact BMW on a matter as important as the two day delay over the delivery of your motorcycle, that will have been sitting in a dealer's showroom for a fortnight already? Or were you blinded by rage and confusion?

Have you tried calling any other dealerships to find out when they plan on rolling-out their awesome steeds to other 'advance order' merchants?

Have you tried spinning some yarn to your dealership (if they insist on saying no) that your cat is ill and you'd be really, really, really pleased if you could have your bike on the day YOU want it, not when their employer (who pays their wages) says that they can release their latest flagship, premium priced, uber shiny motorcycle onto an expectant world with a fanfare of trumpets. Reference to the weather forecast and the chance of rain, may well swing it.

You are obviously sad and upset and wasn't JB's cutting post cruel. If Blackal's picture and my little quip to Das-Leader-mit-der-mostest, didn't lift your spirits, I'm not sure what will. But here's a song anyway...

Pray you never have a baby... Their timing is terrible and often very unnegotiable.

As a car dealer, I can say that it's pretty simple and standard across the industry. On the launch day there will no doubt be countless prospective buyers, tyre kickers, and those using it as a valid excuse to escape from the wife, so a 30 minute handover with a limited sales team is not going to be too feasible if they're wining and dining the above motley crew.

Was there not a thread exuding buckets of joy that BMW dealerships were opening their doors early (or on Sunday) so that millions of advance orderers could all collect their shiny new vanilla WC 1200's on the same launch day, enjoying coffee, buns, bunting, mutual admiration and biker banter with like minded souls, all at once and all together?

How quickly the gloss fades. How unfair it all is now.

New R1200GSA WC

Mine is here in the BMW showroom in Canberra, Australia, Olive Green, fully loaded, looks better in the metal than in pictures or videos I've seen. Just to be registered then I pick it up, probably Thursday or Friday this week as it's currently a long weekend here.

That's kiboshed it....

The Aussies have not only won the Ashes, they have also got the lead over the Poms on the 12 GSA WC deliveries

They'll be out riding 6 weeks before ours are launched

God bless the Aussie summer
