Blimey...........are we related??

I am just about to do exactly the same change with my 2003 blue & white one and get a silver GSA as well, in fact just four more days to wait??

Wish I had sold the blue & white one first though :(

My wife must love me...................:hug

As a standard 1150GS owner I'd like to know in what way the GSA is much better than the standard. They appear to be basically the same bike. If I was buying a new one it would be the GSA, just for the larger tank range & bigger screen, but I couldn't justify trading in my 3.5 year old GS never mind a 12 month old one as you seem to have done.

Can someone enlighten me?

:(

This must be catching?!?

cutmorej and bigtrailrider I am doing exactly the same tomorrow, swapping my 2003 Blue/White 1150GS for a new silver GSA.

Not sure why I am doing it really as there is nothing wrong with my current 1150 and with just 6000 on the clock its barely run in.

Did you guys both test ride the 1200GS. I did and really was not that impressed. Sure it went well, stopped well and handled well but it just didn't feel like a quality product. It just didn't have that go anywhere indestructability of the old GS/GSA.

The wisdom is no GSA1200 till at least March 2007, the current one will remain in production till then, apparantly.

oh I hope so!!!!

re= gsa

i did try the 1200gs for a full day yes its impressive, fast stops well, not so sure about comfort for 2 + luggage, but on the gsa it does eveything so well with very little ease, i will probaly buy the 12 but not just yet im so enjoying the gsa.with regards to the difference 1150 to gsa the gsa just seems to be so comfy, handles better(tyres)dont know if they make a difference but the good lady sure noticed the difference so thats my 2 pennies worth + the £10 ive just sent to the site sponsor with no regrets

:thumb oh yes!

Jeff - they arent much different in many senses. You need to try one and like the look of it. Some things dont have a technical specification sheet to explain them, its just how they are.

I wouldnt change mine right now for a 1200 or another 1150.

Try SPC...

I thought of doing a similar swap, until Mill offered me the princely sum of £5500 for my immaculate, 1 year old 1150. Which they told me would hold it's value really well...

I was looking at a new GSA yesterday, the deal was my bike and £5000 would buy me a brand new GSA, the GSA was going at £9900, my GS is 4 years old with 31000 miles on it...did include a discount as well. The book price on mine was £4000 - £4500 with such high mileage. So am sure they would give you a better price on your GS and they dont seem to have any problems reselling the GS.

From what I can gather the average bike in the UK does 3000 miles a year, thats what resale prices are based on. So on that assumption, my bike should be 10 years old not 4 years old. I should not have broken the rules by riding it a lot. In the year that I have owned it I have ridden the a total of 9 years worth of miles....When I purchased the bike it was 3 years old and had 1800 miles on the clock, it only had 1 previous owner.

Hence high milage

Yep I had the 1200 for the day and I was very impressed with it, it did everything so much better than my 1150 does......BUT....

I just dont like the look of it, IMHO its lost what the GS is all about? (head in sand maybe?)

I only had my 1150 twelve months but in that time I did just under 11500 miles on it from new, great bike and by far the best machine that I have ever owned, so why change then?

Gawd only knows is the honest answer?

The GSA just keep drawing me towards it but I really cannot explain why..........

Probably coz you are the BIG trailbike rider:D

Also I have to agree about the Adventure. I have not ridden either the 12 or the GSA but if I was after a new bike it would be the GSA. That bike would then stay with me till it had a 100K on the clock.

My current 1100 has only 90K on it so I'll have to wait a while yet. And thats kilometers....
