Gsa oem engine bars

Hey guys

My engine bars on my 2011 gsa are starting to rust. Thin paint I guess. I could get them replaced under warranty but they would probably do the same. Has anyone had them powder coated or anything else. How much have you spent on it

£30 to a nice powder coating place in High Wycombe. They were doing silver anyway so it wasn't too much trouble. Now sadly very shagged after being crashed.

Clean them with solvo autosol, as recomended by BMW!

WD40

the only thing I've ever done is just wipe WD40 on them
does a great job

Had the same on my 2009 model and after a lot of ducking and diving by BMW........ I was able to not only get them to agree that the coating was inferior to previous model's bars.... they also replaced them under warranty!

Be warned though - they threw every excuse in the book at me... from you're getting it too wet, leaving it outside in the rain, riding through too many rivers, leaving it wet after washing it..... and a whole lot of other crap excuses as to why they are rusting on the most expensive Adventure bike.!

As your's is brand new....... I'd insist that they replace them!

Just out of interest, is it a big job to remove them. I read somewhere they make up engine mounts

piece of piss to remove but if your bikes new why would you be doing it, let bmw sort the issue under warranty.

Coz the new ones will do the same. I was thinking of getting them done black anyway. Make my bike look a bit different. Noticed some paint blistering underneath the fd yesterday

Can I purchase just a single section of the engine bars, or do I have to buy the whole set? Any idea?

Im pretty sure the lowers (engine bars) can be purchased seperately from uppers (tank protectors) but never seen individual sections , you could try motorworks, phone them as often they only list when they have a full set in saleable condition.
