GSA rack

Hello all,

recently I bought a GSA rack to put on my 1200 GS (I did not like the plastic one) , wich will receive a H&B top box.But I noticed a alteration of the bolt kit . see pictures below,

when the GSA came out,the hardware looked like this:













see,the conter-plate goes inside the plastic support. looks like a square.Clean and well done.










the latest one are like this : messy and complicated,and they dont fit properly.I know its a small detail ,but as I love my bike,I want it perfect








my question : why did they change the shape of that piece? any issue?

I like the old one better

Someone among you know if the old one (on the two first pictures) are still aviable in UK ? here I could only get the new one...) maybe from a old stock?

Dealer quoted me £139 for the GSA rack when I was considering one, but I managed to find a brand new one and the fitting kit on Ebay for under £100, could be worth placing a want add on the site if your after one as a few owners have removed them to fit alternatives.

the picture looks like the nut does not sit flush with the plate. I don't mean to be patronising, but are you sure that they are fitted correctly? there are different pieces for the front and rear mounting points.

At least you've got a self locking nut on the new rack now.

hi,

To Thunder : I payed about 150 £ I dont know yet if it worth the money! but for sure it looks good !

To Pat : yes,they are fitted correctly !

To John : that self locking bolt came from my own stock

To all : my bike is a 2005, so maybe they altered something with the plastic rear carrier , wich as no need to be cut anymore for installing the BMW topbox (on the latest models).I dont know if they also improved the mounting points ?
