Hey you can't own a location man!!
Ok OK I know it's probably been done to death but I hate doing dam searches...as you never really find the answer your looking for!

Right not bothered about technical stuff, just want an average tank range on a 1200 ADV, from a full tank until empty or as close as? All riding conditions..etc etc!!

I'm getting none consistent readings from my bike and fuel gauge, best is 315miles before light comes on, worst 270miles.

Cheers

Ask BuMW:

Performance / fuel consumption

Fuel consumption per 100 km at constant 90 km/h 4.6 litres

Fuel consumption per 100 km at constant 120 km/h 6.1 litres

Usable tank volume 33.0 litres

Reserve approx. 4.0 litres

Then do some sums.

Don't go over 300 miles off a full tank and you shouldn't go wrong

I get similar figures of anywhere from 270-315 to the warning light

I sometimes get 360 miles put 34 ltrs in yes I know its a 33 ltr tank Bike got 399 miles last month JJH

I regularly get over 300 with several miles left on the range. Last run, 2 up with luggage and "making progress" was 330 miles with 64 miles left on range at fill up. I've heard of riders getting over 400 to a tank but I've never had the bottle to push it that far. Best I remember getting was 365m riding 2 up fully loaded for touring from Picos de Europa across towards Pamplona in Spain. Didn't start on a full tank btw.

Howdo Nik, you've not been around here for a while. How's it going?

Been a while I know...many years without a bike so just been looking in to the site now and then keeping my eye on things, bought an ADV the other month and feels great to be out and about again.

Am living in suffolk now so a little different from the glens...some good lanes and pubs though so there is an upside :thumb

Thanks for the feedback...think my fuel gauge is a little unreliable but I do know that there's been a few issues with software updates, just seems to show half a tank then when I stop or leave the bike it then shows one bar. Think I'm going to run the thing till it runs out and carry a spare drop of fuel to see how far out the readings are...

I get around 300/320 in normal riding conditions. (how people get over 350 is quite beyond me:augie.)

Best thing is to strap a gallon can on the back and run it completey out so then you know:thumb

Dunno range, but on commuting 50/50 urban/NSL bypass I get a solid 42mpg, though I like to make progress and have full panniers/screen extension on, so my air resistance is going to be fairly impressive.
Take $Volume_of_tank and figure from there...

282 miles non-stop on 33ltrs (Briming to warning light). That was fully loaded, a fuller more traditional shaped rider, a head wind and 95-110mph in ze Fatherland.

Jim

:) I average about 330 to a tank, never less than 300 no matter how hard it's ridden, I can go down to -5 miles on the range and it still has about 1L left in it....:D
