Hello Guys,

I'm new to the world of motorbikes and am about to buy a 2009 GSA.

I've sat on them in dealers and am able to reach the floor. However, the one I want to buy (private sale) seems really high. I couldn't reach the floor!

I'm 5'9" and have been able to do so on other GSA's. The guy says the seat is set at it's standard setting. The bike does have ESA and he had it set to comfort mode. He couldn't work out why I couldn't reach the floor on this bike but can on others.

I guess my question is does the suspension need adjusting and if so how do I do this?

Cheers

If the seat is on the standard setting it goes lower. You can also get a lower seat. The ESA may have been left on rider+luggage or two up which would raise the height of the bike as well. Dropping that down to rider only and putting the seat in the low position should help.

Not being funny but were you wearing riding gear or casuals as shoe/boot thickness etc makes a diffference, and as others have said suspension settings.

Its your inside leg measurement that matters not being 5'9". I am 5'11" but witha 31 inside leg so might have the same reach as you. Anyway I had my GSA seat on the low setting plus the ESA on comfort and rider only. Even so I wanted to plant both feet on the ground so I bought the extra low seat from Touratech. Love it made all the difference to me as although is a heavy bike and you find yourself in a posistion that would be hard to hold the weight up the low seat will give you loads of confidence as hopefully your feet will be truly planted when you need that. Of course on the move all that weight dissapears had mine 6 months almost 5000 miles and love it. cheers:comfort

Cheers, was thinking of the low seat option... I'll give that a go too.

Yup agree with you there..... I am also 5'9" but inside leg is 29" on a good day....

The GSA was a big no no for me as any hint of a camber or slippery leaf when waiting at a junction and I would have been off...

Got an 09 GS and have no probs but if the ESA setting is set for 2 up and luggage then I have to be wary until the pillion brings the pre-load down.

1 up on ESA is not a problem though ;)
