Right having now managed to get hold of a GSA screen for my GS (thanks Steve) who tells me its fairly easy, just thought I would get any information or tips before I set to it. So if any of you chaps out there is GS land have changed your GS screen for a GSA screen then I would appreciate any info you could pass my way.

cheers in advance Richie :thumb

The support frame goes on first. The outer bushes onto the screen have three fingers to align them with the inner bushes. Check carefully they should only fit one way but can be forced. Plastic washers go between metal hoop frame and screen plastic. Ribbed bush goes with the lug at the top into to the sliding slot. Put it the other way and you wont get the screen low enough to avoid turbulence.

The top hat nut goes on the inside with rim towards middle of the bike. For completeness, the thumbscrew goes on the outside ;)

Hi, The bushes that the adjusting screws go through are marked with an L or a R so that you can get them on the right side. Just look at the back face of the bush to see the letter
cheers

I take it thats L or R as you sit on the bike ??:thumb2

Whilst on an Italian tour a couple of years ago, a friend had his GSA fall off the side-stand which resulted in a badly bent screen support bar. Luckily a BM dealer not to far away had one in stock. Over we went and fitted the new bar in the car park. I seem to remember it was a simple but fiddly job. It would help to have at least one spare pair of hands with you to support the bar/hold on awkward to get to nuts whilst you tighten everything up.

We were learning as we went but it only took about 45 mins to get the old bar off and replace it with a new one.

The plastic blocks that sit against the frame corrugations have little lugs that sit into the sliding slot. That lug should go at the top - easily visible. The plain plastic washer goes between the metal hoop and the screen The outer block has to be fitted carefully so the three fingers get properly into their slots. The longer finger goes in the middle, but look carefully. You will see they are not equally spaced so only fit one way.

Richie B, you should be able to use all the original fittings from your GS screen, I certainly did on my 2006 GS. Only thing I needed to add was a second set of bushes/screws for anchoring to the cross brace, although I did eventually replace all 4 because the later bikes have steel top-hat bushes rather than the plastic on my GS.

The plastic blocks are different for the GSA but only in that they have a bigger top tab that restricts the screen from being adjusted so high as is possible with the GS screen - it's fine to use the GS blocks just don't set it in the uppermost position and expect it not to possibly crack at 100 mph! Some people have needed to fit longer adjusting screws due to the extra thickness with the brace but mine were ample long enough.

i've just bought a tinted adventure screen. Not fitted it yet though.
Any chance of a picture of yours with the new screen fitted ? I'm a little worried its going to look too big on a standard gs.

Here ya go. couple of photos. Looks a little large at first ,but when riding it I didnt even notice the size . looks really cool in my opinion . I am going to fit upper protection bars next :thumb
