In the search for a quieter life I was wondering whether an 1150GSA screen would fit a GS and if so what mods would I need to the mountings?

prob easier to get tobinator kit and the gsa screen, the std mounts never worked for me,too much turbulence for me.

To give a direct answer to the OP's question rather than recommendations that don't answer it, to mount an Adventure screen on a standard GS you need the Adventure screen mounts and matching bolts. Anything else (Tobinators or different screens) is another matter.
Thanks Sproggy...got there in the end...have just searched for the Adv screen mounts and fell of my chair....someone is making large amounts of dosh out of lumps of plastic.
Adv screens come up on eBay now and then complete with the mounts - presumably people who've put their non-Adv 1150 back to standard before selling it. That's where I got mine from - £45 for the screen and mounts which was a bit of a bargain. The screen's a bit scuffed, which is why bidding didn't go higher, but it doesn't bother me as I look over it, not through it.
Post a wanted ad on here and check the for sale section and eBay - it all depends how much of a hurry you're in!

I bought these from BMW - about £80 from memory, sound about right?
It does look very good, although how high up your priority list that is, I don't know.
I don't seem to have any probs with turbulence personally - I'm 6'2 and find it quite comfy at 80-90. The downside to these mounts of course is that they are not adjustable.

Used GSA screen and mount went on fleebay recently for £125 I think. Was thinking of getting it myself but price just got stupid.

As a matter of interest how does the MRA compare with the Adv screen for protection? I switched from a stock GS screen to an Adv one after a miserable 800 mile ride up through France in torrential rain and howling gales. The Adv one, whatever its other failings (turbulence, lack of adjustment), does offer infinitely better protection from that kind of weather.
I currently have an Adv screen with Tobinators but it's a fair way from being the ideal solution for me as I'm not really tall enough (5'7").

I had the standard screen which was poo, tried tobinators with it, better but nor brill. bought an MRA screen which was better. Finally fitted the adv screen and found this best of all.

Boy....really confused now but after having looked at a couple of forums I have decided to take the plunge with an MRA screen from Jaws...In the interests of research I am also borrowing an ADV screen plus torbinators. Should all arrive next week. I will do a back to back test and post the results.
I will take the same routs and include motorway and hope this proves of some use to others.

Best solution is MRA screen for an 1150 and Tobinators.
Had the 1150, bought the above products and it was sorted. When I bought the 1150GSA I tried the Adv screen which I found worse than useless so I simply moved the MRA and Tobby's onto the GSA.

Thought I'd latch onto this thread. I've got an '03 GS with an adv screen. All's ok until I hit around 75mph, after that I experience annoying buffeting. I'm not tall (5'10) but I'm guessing my tour x lid isn't helping. Has anyone tried an adv screen with one of those little extender lips? I'm sure that the MRA screen & tobinators will do the trick, but as they are not available locally postage costs to Turkey can make it all a bit too expensive.
If the tobinator is the ultimate cure I will try getting a mate to bring the kit over.

when I bought it second hand (autumn 2008) it came with an Adventure wind screen which I really evaluate. Some time ago I accidentally came by the web shop of Sierra BMW (http://www.sierrabmwonline.com/windshields-bmw-r1150gs-touring-adv-windshield-kit-p-649.html) where they sell stock BMW 1150 Adventure wind screen to mount on the standard 1150 GS.
Being 185 cm / approximately 6"1' tall, I hardly experience any buffeting.

No buffeting at all. I'm 5'11" and wear a BMW Enduro helmet
Personally I don't like the look of the 2-part MRA screens
But that's just me.
