Interesting options........
I am 5' 8" and 29" inside leg and have had my '07 GSA for about 18 months now. I bought the lowered Sargeant seat for mine not long after I bought the bike which I like and overall I am happy with the set up - Sometimes a bit tippy toes but one leg usually works fine for me.
My last bike was a road only Jap 4 and one of the attractions of the GSA was being able to do some of the trails through local hills again from time to time. This is where I don't find things so easy sometimes - I was out about a month ago on some trails and I ended up having to stop on some un-even ground where the front & rear wheels were up an inch or two maybe than the centre of the bike and I could not stop it falling on to it's side. With using the leverage of the handlebars at full lock I managed to get the bike up again but with a full tank these GSA's aint light and besides that I hate dropping bikes!
On looking to see if I can lower the bike an inch or 2 looks like I have 3 possible easy options for sub £200ish;
1) Buy a Hyperpro 30mm lowering spring kit - £85 for each spring
2) Buy another standard GS rear shock and spring which would maybe lower the bike 20 to 25mm going by previous posts - Maybe £130 used
3) Buy a low standard GS seat (Although on thinking about it I do like the comfort & look of my current Sargent seat right enough.)
Choices, choices.......
Any other thoughts?
+1The seat on the left hand picture is a low GS option and worth mentioning that it is also narrower than a GSA seat which also helps.
RonnieG why don't you see if you can find someone near to you to try out a different seat before committing?
