I stupidly dropped my bike at a standstill while on holiday and the screen fell against a wall badly bending the screen support bar and snapping one of the lower lug things. I dismantled it in the hotel carpark and managed to straighten it out sufficiently to bodge it back together but the paint has cracked off it at one of the 90degree bends and I think the thread in one of the upper fastenings has buggered as I couldn't get the screw in more than a couple of turns.

I've just had a heart attack after seeing the cost of a new support bar

It's a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone has one lying around that they want to sell?

Nightmare, hope you and everything else is ok?

Got one in the shed off my 2012 GSA that im happy to lend you until you find another one?? Would need it back eventually for when i sell the bike, as i have a givi screen on at the moment.

Not sure if this is any help to you, but it would allow you sometime to get your hands on another one permanently. Let me know

Yep - we were fine (only me on the bike at the time - just manoevering it in a rutted car park). Hopefully I can polish the scratches out of the screen and I need to straighten out a slightly deformed pannier.

Thanks for the very kind offer of a loan but I wouldn't want to risk damaging yours :)
My bodged original should get me by until I can find a replacement - now we're home I'm going to take it to bits today and properly survey the damage

No problem, glad your ok and it's good these beasts are resilient and strong.

It's here if you want it just let me know.

Cheers

They are a hell of a price Matt! I cracked mine a couple of years ago after a wee off and had it welded by a mate, painted it silver and back on the bike.

The aluminium needs to be heat annealed before you try to straighten it. It will work harden over the next week or so after annealing.
A Givi Airflow 330 screen solves the bent support problem and removes most of the air flow buffeting.

I have a replica one in steel which I bought off Babble on here. Works well but needs a repaint. PM me if you want it.

Just had the front end in bits and I think I've got away with straightening my screen bar. It took a lot of gentle tweaks and refits to get it right and It'll need a repaint but it seems ok. It's definitely work hardened so I don't think I'll get away with it again but looks like I've dodged a bullet this time.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Just the bent pannier and scratched screen to sort out now

I have a very slightly bent one (upper screen support, that is) it's only out by a couple of mm. I was keeping it as a spare, if it's any good to you, PM me a little offer.
