Having read numerous times on this site that the paint finish on the H & B crash bars is crap, does the same apply to their chrome?

well I am not sure I see the purpose of chrome crash bars on a GS. in my non humble opinion these bikes are work horses and shouldnt be shiny. I have the black HB crash bars and they work fantastic, after 4 months of falling over both while moving and several stand still fall overs they are scratched up and looking well used, like an overlanders bike should. I prefer my little honda fireblade to look all shiny and pretty not my GS is better suited for muddy roads and rocky trails.
But then again I havent showered in a few days so maybe I am not in the right state of mind.

It must have been "one of those moments". Yes of course you're right.
Without the political correctness, I think the word you were looking for was shite!

Green with envy on your trip :bow . All I've managed is 1200 miles in France. Mind you, I did originally think that you started in the UK, then I realised how far you are intending to go. :thumb Without reading it all, how long do you think this "trip" is going to take?

H&B chrome engine bars.

I've had H&B chrome bars on for two years now and they always shine up fine. I had problems mating the Headlight/tank bars to the engine bars, but the second set were fine.

I am guessing about another 7 or so months on the road, I have had to cross off Australia in lieu of longer in Africa and South America. I actually started in SF with about 6000 miles across the US before flying to Ireland.
Where in France??? I absolulety enjoyed the French Alps and the Pyrenees, second to none.
