H.R.H. OONYACK old bike

My mate was in avuss looking at 1200 adv i think may have belonged to OONYACK if so is the bike worth having or should he give it a wide berth .....

If it was so good, why did he get rid of it once and thought about it more than once

Still it will mean he can sell it on ebay as a bike that belonged to royalty

Just because someone had a number of issues with a bike, doesn't necesarily mean the next owner will have problems. It may be the previous owner lacked mechanical sympathy, or that the bike was fixed and then let go.

Most 1200's aren't unreliable heaps, knowing what the problem areas might be, and taking steps to reduce the effects are surely prudent steps?

the best Guzzis to buy are the ones that someone else sorted all the teething troubles on / got p1ssed off with it and then sold it on.
i think i got one of those.

a worrying (depending on where ya stand ) observation;

1200s are getting a reputation like Guzzis -
cant afford a new one with full dealer backup?
then wait til you find one with a few miles up on it and all them gremlins are cured.
the depreciation is in your favour

now thats not something i ever thought i'd see!

the other side of buying / selling;
as i've never been in the market for Bikes that new, i always seem to get an oldy needing a bit of work.

i get it.
i get into it.
i find it's limitations and aim to cure them.
i get all pedantic with it.
i cure its foibles!
i get bored.
i sell it to someone that now ends up with a perfectly good Bike, well set up with no "bad habits" to sort, that i've spent countless hours working on and no chance of recouping that in the asking price!

still, keeps me amused!

Ring antenna fuel pump relay final drive seals and slave cylinder. all done under warranty

Bike still has about 10mths extended warranty

I just got fed up with the stupid things that go wrong with BMW and wanted a proper dual purpose bike
