Had a test ride today.

It looks like torque is up everywhere on the 1150 and I must admit that is what I thought when I test rode back-to-back.

The 12GS is nowt like a 600cc, its an irrelavent comparison.

Might as well say the 1150 is more like a steam traction engine......it is, but who cares:P :D

Well theres me told.

IDGAS what you tossers think, like it or not IMO the 12 that I rode rides more like a 600 than it does like the 11.

Oh, and if you look at the graphs it HAS got less power and torque below 3K.;)

The all black ones with black wheels are the best;) I'm saving already:)

just curious, what colour you getting?

JJ
If i get a new one, Blue/black/black, second hand probably Red/black/black cos there seems to be more of them about.

Wont be yellow tho. Brightly coloured bikes arent my bag baby.
Hated having a Green ZX636 cos it stood out like a sore thumb.

Sounds like you've made yours! As they say, 'do the math'. I'm nowhere near as perceptive as you are judging by your impressively detailed write-up - but I could still tell the 12GS was a cut-above the moment I rode it.

Go on, you know it makes sense.

Yeah I think there may well be a blue 1150 GS up for sale in a couple of weeks.:D
Then its just a matter of waiting for someone who doesnt want theirs to sell me a 12.

Red/Black/Black one's have more torque below 3k:D :D :D

seconded :thumb :D

That one may have not had the software update, did it chug a bit if you closed the throttle and let the revs drop below 2.5K? (especially in second)

I rode the 12 and the 1150, and i couldn't say the 12 pulls like a 600, but the torque at lower revs is slightly down on the 1150, so it may well not have as much grunt, but it will still pull away cleanly in second if you're not concentrating

Knowing how you ride, and having seen you ride, i'm surprised you would have the 1150...didn't think it'd be your thang!

Good choice :thumb Shame about the colour ;)

BTW whats the surfacing on the 660 like? last time it was chronic...but this was nearer the bedford end, and there was a plague of 40's!

Aye, thats where it was struggling when I pulled away from T junctions after slowing, but not actually stopping.
Like I said, I think it was that particular bikes problem, not across the board, but as its the only one I have ridden I cant confirm.

Couple of years back I wouldnt have done. I was a sports bike rider through and through. However seeing Animal ride the GSa was an eye opener, and needing a cheaper bike to insure than a 600 sports bike made it a good choice.
now I would LOVE another sports bike, but it wont be at the cost of not having a GS in the garage. They rock, in all forms.

Seemed fine to me mate, but I am not to sensetive to surface irregularities. Esp on the GS after riding them on a sports bike all those years.:D
best ask one of the guys on this thread:

B660 is good enough to take a K12 down at silly mph.

Bumpy roads only become a major problem if you tense up when riding them, unsettling the bike :shoot:
