had my first motorcycle accident yesterday - what should I do

As others have said get a front and rear camera (unless you're worried the footage could be used against you if you're stopped by plod etc). You're lucky the other driver admitted responsibility, many don't and then it's your word against theirs so the insurers will more than likely go knock for knock and you can kiss goodbye to claiming damages off the other driver for your kit or even worse injury.

You may have been lucky this time regarding the other parties admission of fault .
If it happens again you should stay on the floor and askfor an ambulance to be called.
Then the police have to attend as it’s a RTA.
You don’t have to be taken to hospital if you think you’re ok and can ride your bike.
The police will work out who’s to blame which helps any insurance claim.

Just a thought: if you have Klim riding gear and obtained a police report to say yes the other driver was to blame Klim replace your gear foc (or they did).

the young couple rang for an ambulance, but i refrained because i thought it was not an emergency,
dont have a dash cam and no witnesses, think you may be right, but am hoping they will accept responsibility,
am not trying to make a big deal ,my access is 500 quid, sure i can sort my bike for that money, as for jacket pants and helmet, wear and tear,
am lucky my employers will pay my wages for a time, thank you for your reply,
Unfortunately your insurance company will increase your premium when it comes to renewal time

Also, don’t just check the bike yourself, in case there’s frame damage or something else that’s not obvious. Don’t use 4th Dimension, as many on here will tell you, if your bike needs to go to a workshop.

What does the law say? I’d imagine that any accident involving personal injury or property damage should be reported. Did the other party report it? JJH

You could report it now but they probably won't be interested, you have all the other party's details, they didn't fail to stop, no one was injured and it's too late to breath test anyone.

"You don't need to report a collision to the police if you've exchanged details, nobody was injured and there are no allegations of driving offences.

You must report the collision to the police if you were unable to exchange details at the scene, if anyone was injured, or if you suspect that the other person may have committed a driving offence. "

On there link, you should be able to report it online. Nothing will happen, but at least it's reported

next thing i am led under my bike with a painfull knee and foot, two motorcyclists stopped and picked my bike up and i managed to stand,

In answer to all your replys, the man in the audi has admitted full liability, his insurance company (aviva) have rung me to take pictures of the damage to my bike and clothing, my knee is still swollen, only soft tissue damage, foot is getting better by the day, had another x ray this week and bloods , they showed up raised potassium levels, only 5.5, 3.0-5.0 is normal i believe, i did not have any photos or witnesses to the accident,it was just north of eskdalemuir a slight kink in the road about 5-600 metres before buddist temple,
thanks for all your input everybody, at the time i just was glad i could still feel my toes etc, nowt major, i managed to stand after 2 motorcyclists stopped and lifted my bike up, just wanted to ride home and chill out, i dont want to milk the accident just get back on my feet and back to work , i have contacted my insurance company, Hastings, they immediately reminded me of £700 excess, which did piss me off a little, does it matter if i deal with aviva directly, or let hastings deal with it,

Eh ?

It goes back to the" you should have let them call an ambulance or the police if injured".at the time of the coming together It's a bit late now claiming injury, he could have fallen off a ladder the following day , similar to the retrospective whiplash claims now common these days.

You don’t know that.

For all you know, the OP had an introductory bonus and the premium might have gone up anyway.
You’re probably right …. You usually are …. I can only speak from experience …. a no fault accident and subsequent premium loading at renewal time . I didn’t even make a claim .

I await your reasoned reply

Get your bike fixed, then consider adding a dash cam, I fitted them to both of my bikes for about £60 a pop (VSYSTO D6WL) purchased via AliExpress/eBay/Amazon, 1080P front a rear cameras on loop recording to an SD card with enough detail to capture number plates.

Great minds, Adam....

I have these on both bikes (although I paid £80 via Amazon). Do the job and hopefully will never be called upon for evidence.

If they admit liability, claim direct through their insurance, no stop on your no claims, you can have bike repaired where you want the work done
