My 1250 is a year old today. Had a call last night to say my adaptive headlight has arrived.

Whilst I'm happy to finally get it I am still pissed with BMW (not the dealer) as I was originally told it would be done within 3 months!

Having a test ride on the 1300 whilst it's being done although after just over 20 years of GS's I'm more inclined to go elsewhere for my next bike, possibly the new Africa Twin.v

Had mine done 2 weeks ago and still waiting for them to get the software to make the adaptive bit work. And I wasn't the only one to have this.

Listermint - no, just considering a change. I may well think the 1300 is the best bike for me but I won't be changing for about 18 months, I'll let the beta testers find all the issues with it first.

Siddo - my dealer has told me that changing the headlamp doesn't take very long but the software update can take 2 - 3 hours. That's when I'll be taking the 1300 for a run, and enjoying BMW's coffee and cake - I hope!

Im a beta so will let you know ,,, a honda ........ nooooooo The 1300 will be a great bike , changing as cant see the reason for keeping the 1250 as had a few now and fancy a change , tried the V4 s (beta again) and the PP (silly mistake) but the 1250 made me happy again , the 1300 will be better and Bm will look after you and also , they will not have looked at this as they did with the first LC ( I was beta then as well)
This has been a 5 year projet based on all the information over a long time of honing the Gs

I’ve always fancied an AT but couldn’t go back to chain drive.

Did your headlight switch work ? (on new left hand switch) just had mine done (2nd nov) took it into another dealer they couldn't get it to work either.

Nope.
I spent all day down there and then they returned it saying software issue and needed patch from Germany. Had happened to another bike the day before.
This was 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing since.

Not very good customer service. We spent maybe 3 or 4 hours and 5 floods to contend with. Mine is booked in on the 14th nov to see if they can sort it or get Bmw to take over the diagnostics. Not on really is it ill be getting in touch with Bmw uk when its done or its not done.

I think it's shockingly bad. They knew there was an issue the day before and should have cancelled my visit.
It'll have to be done by my nearest dealer now as I'm not riding all the way to Brighton from Essex again.

Update on my adaptive headlight not working properly, my bike went in yesterday to Halliwell Jones Chester came back today all working. They kept me informed yesterday, it was a fault with the download Bmw took over the diagnostics and bobs you uncle it works. Thank you Halliwell Jones job well done.

Had mine done last Thursday, took 3 hours in total, no problems that I'm aware of.

Spent 1½ hours of the time test riding a 1300GS. Very nice, but too expensive to change now, I'll think about it in 18 months

Nearly 5 weeks on and I have heard nothing from them in Brighton.

I've had three GSs since 2016 and problems with two of them, all sorted under original or extended warranty. It's very frustrating and before I bought the third I had a really good look around and test rode all the competitors (and some just for the hell of it). Now I try and look at my relationship with it and BMW in the round. As I come down the off ramp in Calais or Bilbao/Santander I still get a wonderful feeling of freedom. I still don't think there's a better bike for me at the moment but I never say 'never'.

Well I emailed them yesterday and they have spoken to Sycamore and I'm booked in for 7 Dec for software installation.
Doubt they'd have gotten back to me unless I contacted them though.

I am still waiting for my headlight to be done, I am the second owner though, but the original owner gave me the voucher.

Used £240 (ish) for the 6k service and now have a £260 credit with the dealer to spend.

I had the headlight done .. yep, was annoyed by the delay but it was not really down to BMW - there were lots of issues globally due to chip shortages. Personally found the adaptive headlight worth the wait, though ... just need to give it a bit of 'protection' .. anyone have any recommendations on protecting the headlight?
