Any one fitted a Hagon front shock. Got the shock in place but how do you get a spanner on the flats on the top of the shock to tighten the nut. scratching my head on this one may need to make a spanner.
help !!!

Its been a few years since I fitted mine, but (dodgy, faded) memory says the key is to move the fuel tank backwards a little, you then have access to the top of the shock and don't need any non-standard tools. Its a relatively simple job, good luck!

Just take the tank off. Simple bodywork, then two M8(?) bolts and some fuel & electricals to pull away.

If the tank is more than half full you'll need help putting it back on the bike because the bolt holes wont line up. I made some new bolts with 6 or 8mm of threads turned off the ends. These gave a lead into the frame threads without risking them getting cross-threaded.

If the shock has no way to hold the mounting stud, use half height nuts. Run two nuts down to the bottom. Use two more locked together at the top to hold the spindle while you tighten and lock the working nuts.

The bodge method uses a mole grip (ideally with blunt jaw teeth) and some 2mm aluminium sheet to protect the threads.

thanks for the help, manage by shortening a 30mm spanner and grinding the sides away to get in position on the flats, then tighten nut without the body of the shock turning.
