Hello all.
Just returned from a tour around Europe. Funny thing happened one day.
Was on a long Motorwy run in blistering heat. Sitting around 80mph when i pulled into services for a short break. 20 minutes later fired her up and pulled away. Rolled off the throttle at walking pace and it stalled. Fired it up and tickover wouldn't sit at the normal 1100rpm but would drop off and die. Fired it up again and put fast idle on to first stage and rode off. Switched idle off when on Motorway and it ran fine. No coughs or hesitation. Nice and smooth and pulled well. Temp gauge did creep up to 6 bars in the heat at 80mph so slowed to 70 and it came back down to halfway. Never been above 5 bars except in heavy traffic but it was a bloody hot day. Almost unbearable.
Any ideas why tickover went funny? Hasn't done it since so I'm not too worried but I am curious. Hall sensor maybe?

thank you in advance Gentlemen (and Ladies)

Kev

There would be a lot of heat soak from switching off after a high speed run in high ambient temperatures. This could affect the hall sensor or indeed another engine connected sensor - (oil temp / air temp / lambda :nenau ) but you most often hear about this sort of temperature related stuff with the hall sensor. I wonder if fuel could have been vapourising in the injector header?

It threw a wobbler.. and recovered, I wouldn't fret about it. or try to over-analyse. If the things been fine since.

I wouldnt worry about 6 bars on temp guage either fairly normal at high continuous speeds in very hot weather.

Thanks guys.
Not too worried as it is fine now. Was bloody hot so figured it was something related to that.

cheers
