So there I was, riding to Heysham yesterday to catch the ferry to the TT, when the bike (2003 twin spark 1150GS) just died. Cranking over but would not fire. Seemed to be enough life in the battery until it eventually got a little tired from numerous attempts at starting it. I had 3/4 of a tank of fuel, but strangely enough the fuel gauge and temperature gauge just showed one bar on each gauge. Got recovered home by the AA, and haven't looked at the bike yet, but sounds like a typical failure of the hall sensor? If this proves to be the fault, any ideas where the best place to get one is at reasonable cost? I see some on ebay at a reasonable price from Greece, but with a choice of plug type, in which case which type do I need, before I start stripping it down, and are these any good, or is there someone in the UK that can supply a known quality new sensor assembly at a competitive price?

I believe this is the plug you’ll need. I got one from the same chap and its been faultless.

Greek one fitted to my 2003 twin spark GS in February and done a few thousand kms in both heavy rain and extreme heat in S Africa and Namibia without problems.
