I have been recomended to look at Halvarssons Textile jackets and I must admit I have never heard of them :(

Have had a look online and they look ok. They have this lining that keeps you cool when hot and visa versa.

Any tossers here have any experience with them :nenau

Good, bad, avoid, go for it :nenau

Cheers

It's very well made and cheaper than Rukka.

The lining thing is a waste of space - it may keep you a bit warmer, but after a bit of use it's rubbed off, so a gimmick, IME.

I've the safety jacket with the 2 outers - it's really warm in winter and with the breeze outer and cool in summer with one cavaet. It needs airflow to remove the heat, so it's boiling if you're trundling through rush hour traffic in central London in 30 degree heat. But then what bike gear isn't?

The waterproof outer of the safety trousers went over the winter - but £60 saw me into new ones. They did stay waterproof for 3 winters of daily use though.

I'd definately buy another one.

Try a search ...

... on here for more info, but I've had their kit (not the Safety Jacket) for two years now, good stuff & does what it says on the tin. The 'phase change' liner is similar to the BMW offering; that also had mixed reviews :nenau

Explain please.
Cold gets warm gets cool.

Outlast® is a high-tech material that evens out differences in temperature. Cold gets warm and warm gets cool.
This material was originally developed to protect astronauts from extreme variations in temperature. Today, it features in numerous applications that make our everyday lives more comfortable.
Outlast® has the ability to regulate the temperature of the air next to the body for a comfortable ride whatever the weather conditions. It sounds like magic but there is a scientific explanation. In simple terms, the material is made up of millions of microscopic paraffin capsules that absorb, store and distribute heat to cooler areas. When the clothes are warm and the temperature drops and gets cool, the stored heat ensures that the fabric stays warm, and vice versa. Differences in temperature are evened out and you stay comfortable for a more enjoyable ride.
What rubs off hence is a gimmick? :nenau

£219 but the dealer I bought the bike from said he could do me a good deal. He is sending several styles and sizes with the delivery of the bike for me to try :thumb2

How cool is that :D

Work supplied me with the safety jtrousers so I bought the safety jacket myself. So impressed with the kit I even bought their safety leather trousers for summer.

Bear in mind that I have the police MW leathers and Scott jackets coming out of my ears, so to actually spend my own money it must have impressed.

I'm in Stoke Poges so if you want to come round and eyeball the stuff feel free. I'll even put the kettle on.

Thanks for that Bill :thumb2 Thats a pretty big thumbs up.

I like the idea of a "base" that you can then attach different outers to dependant on the weather etc.

I will have a look at what they are sending over with the bike tomorrow and if they are not for me I will be in touch :thumb2

I Have the Halvarssons MAYHAM Jacket and ZEN Trousers. I've only had them from new for 2 months, but been riding in all sorts of shitty/freezing weather without any trouble. Very warm, very comfortable, good fit and so far totally waterproof.

Good kit but heavy

I have the safety jacket with teflon & breeze outers. With a back protector in the safety jacket the whole get up weighs a ton but I certainly feel safe and secure in it. It is very well made and it wears well.

Can't say that the outlast inner is that amazing, but then if you don't notice it, it's probably doing it's job. I have turned mine into a heated lining using a DIY kit and this has transformed the kit for winter. I found it a tad cold in sub 5deg temps.

As said in earlier posts, in summer you can start to cook in slow traffic, but when moving it is fine.

In terms of protection, it's pretty much as good as it gets. In terms of comfort, I'd give it 8/10.

Previous kit was Hein Gericke Voyager and Frank Thomas. Neither were as good.

If it could be improved, then I would improve the draftproofing at the collar and make the sleeves a little easier for getting gloves inside.

Would I buy it again? Probably. I like the idea of changeable outers

Good luck

I agree. Although I wear a buff and the problem goes away. And the High Viz outer comes with a neck adjuster, so that's not an issue.

And for the glove problem I found Racer Pluvio gloves solved that problem too, as these gloves have a neoprene 'inner' to the wrist, so water doesn't dribble into your palms. Mine were significantly cheaper than Ride quote too.

I am in the market for a replacement to my now slightly leaky HG Voyager - and I keep coming up with Rukka (the Dogs Danglies but eye wateringly expensive) or Halverssons - I like the idea of being able to replace the bit that keeps failing (the waterproofs) and the price of Halverrsons is a lot cheaper. I would rather buy Finnish than Swedish (I am half Finnish) and Rukka is supposed to be superb quality. HAs anyone got experience of these two suits for a fair comparison?

ive had or got bits from both rukka and halversons,

i have had an allroad suit, which is ace and you get what you pay for, although i found not the best for day to day use and its designed for off roading and adventure riding.

i currently ride in a rukka marco hi viz jacket and a pair of halversons gi pants.

i personaly think that the halversons trs are better than the rukkas as they come with 2 lines, thermal and waterproof, and also have vents in the legs for summer. they also have leather patches on the bum, inside of knees and the inside of the heel, all the parts that rub and would normally give out.

http://www.grandprixlegends.com/motorcycle-gear/brand/halvarssons/Halvarssons-GI-trousers-Black.html

the rukka marco is ace also. its light, very warm, totally waterproof, but the front pocket seams have popped on the front pocket but its still great and when it gives out ill be looking at the halversons saftey jacket to replace it.

the rukka stuff is great and its what works for me, but then so does the halverssons stuff and its a damn sight cheaper, and to me, its just as good, if not better,

hope this helps?

I have the Mayham jacket, Sports Shadow jacket, Zen & GI pants, compared to Hein Gericke & BMW rider gear, I cannot fault them, they all do what they say on the tin.

I have a Rukka Marco jacket which i love but although warm i do not like the way it deals with water, it will allow the water in till it gets to the w/p liner which means you are dry but the outer skin of the jacket is waterlogged so when its cold and at speed works like a fridge. The rest of it is great.
I bought 2 pairs of Harvelsons gloves late last year and am well impressed with both, i will be going back for a jacket soon :thumb2
Jofama / Lindstrome / Harvelsons, all good kit and at very reasonable prices.

Hi all and thanks for some great comments,

I have gone for the Mayham Jacket :) Very impressed with the quality of the jacket. Well vented and it fits really well.

Got a deal.... Reduced from £229 to £190 :) well I have just spent £7K with them on a new scoot

Probably going to get an air jacket for the really warm days.... distant memory eh  snowing again today :(
