I send alot of time on the road visiting customers. I passed my test April 2008 and I have been using my GS1200 of late instead of the car, much more fun! The problem I have is clothing. I normally wear protective textile trousers and my textile jacket which my customers have no problem with. The problem is me, I am very hot during meetings. Does anybody know of a over suit with protective armour that you can wear over trousers and shirt? Seen the BMW oversuit, is it any good? Bloody expensive!

I use just the Aerostich trousers (Darien) and a regular jacket. Much more versatile and still the easy on/off.

Have a look at Olympia kit. Here's a link to their one-piece suit: CLICK

I have an Aerostich one-piece, and it's great. But I also have an Olympia jacket and it has massive air vents, so much cooler than even an Aerostich with all the zips open. Cheaper than an Aerostich as well.

I know that exchange rates have buggered the cost, but the Aerostich really is a top class bit of kit. Had mine for 3 or 4 years now, wearing it day in, day out and it still keeps the water out and the protection in place. Off in a few seconds and wear what you want underneath. Perfect if you can't turn up somewhere in "bikegear". Only problem is that it's bit hot in summer so I tend to wear combats and a vest then.

Popeye of this parish had a one piece textile suit on the Turkey Trot, last year.

He semed to get on with it OK. I recall it had heavily rubberised zippers, a bit like a diving suit.

It's a shame you are not a site sponsor (just £12 a year) or you could PM him for details.

I wear a textile jacket and some HG textile trousers that go over my work trousers - something like these:

I keep a pair of work shoes in my laptop bag.

I can therefore at a moments notice wip off my (over) trousers  and pop on some shoes and I'm in normal work shirt, tie and black trousers, just with a heavy jacket.

I use an Olympia Phantom one piece which does the job perfectly.

Comfy, waterproof and less than half the price of a Aerostich :augie

Worth having a read up on 'Aerostitch ' and 'Olympia' here....I seem to remember Thunder having the latter and finding it not as good as his 'stitch.

You'll find a lot of us have had or still use a 'stitch, and they really are top bits of kit.....I used to use mine all day everyday for work on the bike (getting in and out of it up to 10 times a day on engineering visits) and it was/is superb.

As above, the exchange rate has buggered the cheapness of them, but keep an eye out here or on Ebay and they do come up from time to time.....they don't last long though ;)

PS FWIW, I'd still say it's well worth ordering a brand new one, made to measure......regardless of exchange rate, it still comes out better value than a lot of UK supplied kit.

TrevMcDev of this here parish has the Olmpia suit and rates it very highly.

If I was in the market for another suit I would definitely consider it. :)

I asked this question on ADVrider earlier this year in anticipation of 30+ degrees in Istanbul. A new one piece mesh suit from a company called Teiz Motorsports was being launched (made in Pakistan, sold in the US). Cheap as chips $250, 100% mesh with reinforced panels and ankle to neck zip for ease of getting on and off (like the aerostich, but unlike the Olympia).

I've just checked again and it seems they are selling their last few on ebay... http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Teiz-Motorsports. Seems like a well thought out suit with loads of features - some of which may not be to everyone's liking...

If anyone gets one, please let us know what its like! :)

Is a 'Stich water 'non-absorbant'?
What I mean is my HG textile jacket and trousers are water proof and I stay dry. But the outter material acts like a sponge. If its been raining hard and I hang it all up then after 15 minutes there will be a big puddle on the floor under it. Not ideal when visiting the clients. As a result I put a water-proof jacket and trousers on over the top. Its a pain though and a bit bulky.

Spidi Admiral by any chance? I had 3 before they gave me my money back though they'd only just come out. They were bringing out a new version which may have been better. That big rubber zipper would crease at the crotch and knee which is where the water got in. I liked it apart from that.

Yes if it's treated with nikwax etc......and to stay properly dry underneath, you do need to get the technique right for sealing the zips and their flaps.

Mine does nor soak up water as you describe, but it's only 'cos I can't be arsed to re-treat it :blast
