Hi everyone, I have been talking about running an ‘alternative’ Wombat Hunt for some time and at last I have a date, namely Sunday 23rd Jan 05.

The run will be starting in Alton at 10am in the railway station car park, the car park is off Station Road (see attached map). I’m sorry but the local station café is closed on Sunday’s so first refreshments will be at lunch time.

We will cover the lanes towards Odiham, then through to the Candovers (where there is a biker friendly pub) then back through Alresford and Four Marks finishing back in Alton.

The lanes are no tougher than the usual surrey lanes you have been used to, although we do start in a ‘interesting’ 2 mile lane that runs up the middle of a river bed…….

Regards

Clive

PS Did any of you recognise the ugly mugs in the TRF calendar, although good photography I thought!

I am in for that, I have been up and down the riverbed section, it is excellant although I will be taking my KTM as I wouldn't take anything bigger up the riverbed!! :D

Good decision not taking anything too big up the riverbed, there are a couple of steps to navigate…. We will be riding up it then straight back down again! :D

The riverbed has two large steps which usually require a bit of man handling to get up! :) We will be hitting some deep ruts later in the run which I guess might cause some problems!? Lets put it this way a GS would not be my first choice!

DEAF-AN-EIGHT- LY no go for me have SHOP FITTERS IN SHOP doing a new ceiling on SUNDAY.

Bakerman, sorry to hear you can't make it :( Maybe next time.

Judging by the lack of response it will be small group…..

Having said that I have had a couple of local lads confirm they will be there :)

Hi Bakerman, well a little disappointed with the turnout :( No one turned up as a result of the posting on the GS owners website!

So there was me and 2 mates! That said we had a great time albeit a bit chilly to start with. We must have gone through at least a 1000 puddles, we even had snow in Four Marks! Very slippery, so going quite slow but that was just as well as that helped keep to keep warm. Pub lunch and couple of pints was a welcome break.

Hopefully catch up with you on the next event :)

Clive,

A p'ss poor show from the GS crowd then, I would have love to come, but had non green-laning friends to stay, Hopefully next time I'll be free

Andrew

If you ever want to jion usWest Sussex crowd, we are only 40minutes away, Green-lanes start 3/4 mile from my house, near Pulborough. Normally end up doing 80 miles mostly good tracks

I would have been their but Shopfitters from Scotland in shop 2 days again.

Off to Wales this weekend trail riding with a gay mate.

sorry again, next time.

Always said this lot were tossers.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the offer ref joining West Sussex crowd, that would be great. I have have done some lanes down your way but would appreciate a guilded tour :)

I'm away skiing next week but will get in touch when I'm back to arrange a date/time etc

Clive

Hi Bakerman, no problem re missing this trip at least you let me know you could not make it :)

Anyway I'm sure we can arrange another trip sometime and I'll keep you posted.

We are thinking about a Wales trip as well, so would be interested to know how the trip went. Did you arrange the trip yourself or use one of the advertised tour people?

Regards

Clive

I'd be interested in a Wales trip.

If it's Pogo sticks I will get a van.

Miss out Llanerchindda farm, if you do go watch out.

Take a sleeping bag and a presser wash, as the sheets won`t have been changed and the pressure wash is 7 miles away at owners house.

I have been to Llandovery Farm several times and always had a great time.

Try and get Niel as your guide as he is a top bloke. the Other guy is a bit thick and doesn't know what a sence of humour is.

I am planning another trip in March / April is anyone wants to join me Pogo sticks only unless your very good ie GOD like on a GS

AJ

PS the farms for sale if anyone has a spare 600K. which maybe why Bakerman wasn't impressed. Or maybe he's a big girls blouse. I was there in December and it was fine, Not five star but OK for a lads weekend..

I've had a quick look at the web site and have to agree does look OK for a 'Boy's Weekend'!! Although good idea to take your pressure washer I guess....

When you get as far as booking some dates let me know, there are 3/4 of us interested in going.

Regards

Clive
