just tried to fit my new brush guards, all was going well untill (and yes the wise ones among you will laugh) i cut the end out of the grip ,to fit the end fitment ,and realised ,i had heated grips , and the blooby thing wouldnt fit (it was way to small) ,.
does any one know of a fitment for brush guards , with heated grips,(the bit that fits in the end of the handlebar.
i know it sounds strange but i would rather have handguards than heated grips .
at worst ill just (drill ) or take off the heated grips.
any sugestions greatly apprreciated.:nenau

ive got a set of oxfords in my loft, didnt think they would fit though ,as the throttle cables are different, or am i just being thick

Thick might be your answer there :augie (none meant).

The heated Oxford grips replace your existing grips only (not the inner parts). You'll need to remove the OE heated grip rubbers. If you do this very carefully you might be able to sell them on ebay.

Once the OE ones are off the bike you can then fit your brush guards in the normal manor.

As an aside: The OE handguards are much more efficient at protecting your hands from the weather than any of the other guards out there. :rob They will also fit inside the Tucano Muffs :augie , and along with your heated grips will be even better (though I will confess the Oxford grips Jill had on her F650gs where much hotter than the OE's) that anything you try.

The PO fitted Maier 59512 guards , Barkbusters, Oxford grips and grip puppies on my G/S.

Never have the grips on.

The Maier guards work at least as well as the OEM guards on my GS - they are big and keep wind and rain off very well.

I've got Barkbusters on my g/s but aftermarket grips. (which are only okay).

What I'd suggest is getting some normal rubber grips and the heated foils that go underneath, as they're really good. I'm going to convert to these at some point. Try here, they do online orders. Not a bad little shop to visit if you're in the area.

Solution is to fit the modified acerbis guards, which accommodate the wires for the grips. Touratech did them but I think now discontinued, however still occasionally appear on eBay. There's another recently updated thread here somewhere on this.

Yes,these are the ones I believe; designed to clear the wiring. I'm just wondering if it might be possible to modify the original expansion bolt.
