When I took the bike into my superb dealership last week to have something fitted I was told that they had discovered that my handlebars had movement in them. They 'torqued them up'. I was delighted that they had a) discovered a problem and b) had taken it on themselves to rectify it. And no, I had not noticed it myself but I guess it was one of those things that had gradually got worse and I just hadn't registered the small incremental changes. Incidentally, I had just got back from a 6 country tour of Europe doing some hard riding (and the bike had behaved impeccably).

On relection I'm just slightly concerned that this might be something I should look out for and do something about myself. Is it a 'known' problem? I did not enquire at the time (I know I should have) as to precisely what they did but I gather it was not in the bars themselves (where they sit in the supports) but further down. Sorry to be so ignorant but I hope some of you more knowledgeable types might be able to explain what might have been done and what I should do if it happens again.

Thanks!

My handlebars moved slightly - rolled back towards me - but I didn't notice it. Only became apaarant when full left lock put the indicator on.

I loosened the clamps, moved them forwards, tightened it back up again. No problem!

They are easy to check.

There is a small punchmark on the bar. This lines up with the two faces of the clamp.

They are also dead easy to tighten.

It does no harm to go round your bike now and again and check tighten any nuts and bolts that if loose could potentialy cause an accident.
let's face it these are big machines and there's quite a bit of vibration going on.
It only takes a few minutes.:thumb

Wot? No EWS / fuel pump controller / ABS / engine / gearbox / oil seal failures?? Where's the adventure biking in that? Take it back mate, must be a dud!:bounce1
