Hi
I was wondering if your new guard was cooler than the original metal one? I found that when riding off road I get a burn through my boots and my leathers on my left calf. I like to ride with quite close contact to the bike when off road (as per Chris Scott advice), especially as I have shortish legs (boyfriend likes to remind me of this). Riding in the south of Morocco caused a problem with a nasty burn on day one - rough tracks, soft sand and well out of my comfort zone required a good grip on the bike.
What do you think?
Why not try longer Allen screws with a couple of bolts on the inside, between the guard and exhaust to make the guard father away from the exhaust. To act as a spacer.

Here is Crackers's bike on the left (I believe not unfamiliar to you Micky or indeed DKF) ready for departure on said trip to Maroc.
You will note the commendable approach to travelling light.
I also managed to fit most of my stuff into the tail pack on my XCh, but somehow also managed to end up with a full set of panniers as well
Trip report to come![]()
