Well myself and Yamonda1 set off once we finally met up :P
what a belting day it was too, clear blue skies and baking temps made it a very tiring but very enjoyable ride. just what i needed to get my accident out of my system.
The route didn't quiet go to plan as i had obviously misread what google maps had planned out, so ended up missing the turn off for the pass and carried on another 20 miles i think :blast
John dived to the rescue with his sat nav :thumb and we were soon back on track.
stopped for a cracking sandwich at a local pub at the base of the pass and off we set.
got to say cheers mate, was great to meet you and had a fantastic ride. quiet a few miles, scorching sunshine and some beautiful scenery :thumb2
look forward to the next ride.
cheers fella. :thumb2

We were there yesterday:thumb2 I like the 1st pic showing thr roman fort halfway down Hardnott:cool:

did that pass last monday. wouldn't want to have met anything coming the other way on some of those bends though!

lovely pics.

On the last photie, is that an official Tescotech bag on the back?

Kirk,
In the last three weeks I've been over sixteen Cols/Passes including D'Izoard, Giorgio, Bonette, Stelvio and Fluellapass but I can honestly say that none were more difficult for me than Hardknott north to south today .... I've done it before south to north without a problem but today I was very nervous for some reason ... and the traffic was light ... thank Heaven !!!

Great day though despite my nerves .. thanks for the invite :thumb2 :clap

p.s. I felt for that cyclist who just couldn't manange the last fifty metres :blast

I agree :thumb2 the worst bit is only short but murder, don’t try and ride up the last section to the top if there is a car coming down because you can’t both get around the corners, and whatever you do don’t stop on a hairpin as the road will be a foot lower on the inside of the hairpin

The smell of burnt out car clutch’s wafts for miles :D

Hardknott pass

Interesting ride, could you tell me where the pass is to and from? Which is the best direction to ride it? Cheers
