Can anyone tell me how essential the bracket mounted on the fork is when fitting a hardpart kit? I can understand that if the kit comes with a bracket for attaching the brake pipe to the fork then it must have be intended to be used but is it absolutely necessary? What are the repercussions of not fitting one, damage to the brake pipe?

Any comments are welcome.

Cheers

I believe the bracket is there to prevent the brake pipe getting trapped in the event of an off.It does seem to put the pipe under a bit of tension though.

I would say pretty important as it will prevent the brake hose being damaged in the event of a low speed spill. It is also quite a work of art, however you could possibly create a low tech version. Maybe TT will sell the part separately? OK, silly idea...

EDIT - I can mail you some close ups if you fancy having a bash at making your own, as a short term thing it could be as simple as a tie wrap and large O ring as a spring....

Thanks for both comments. Much as I thought.

am i correct in thinking you dont use the bracket on the 1100.:nenau
and is the 1100 kit the same as 1150 kit minus the brake pipe bracket.
if yes to both then i have a spare brake pipe thingy.?

Just a suggestion....check the touratack catalogue number...that will at leased tell you if their the same part (ie if numbers are the same), also the new site normally lets you see the fitting instructions for most items so may be able to get more info there.
