Any good for the winter?

Or just an knackered old ex army heap..........This one seems to run well enough(last time I saw it it was in a local classic bike show)

What do you think?

Rotax engine ...

... no chrome, cheap and plentiful spares and an excellent forum at MTriders; what's not to like :nenau

Buy it you know you want to, should be real fun thrashing around the farm. Get some ammo cases and get off to the Dragon Rally on it.

Hola,
Had one for about a year, pretty heavy, especially if it still has the pannier racks fitted and a tad underpowered, although many owners fit a Mikuni carb conversion, which seems to give it a bit more umph. Binned it a few times, once quite badly on black ice up at Carberry Castle. No damage done to the bike, they're pretty well put together.
I really enjoyed riding it, got quite a few looks in town, especially with the original SA80 gun box on the rear. The Rotax engine's pretty hardy, it's designed so as not to bounce valves if the timing belt breaks.
There's a website- mtriders or something like that for any more info you require.
Probably the only bike I've regretted selling. I've read that the sand coloured ones should be avoided as they've probably had a harder life in the desert.
Cheers,
Peter.

This one's an N' reg has an indicated 14'000miles and 'modified' quite a bit with different indicators, extra spot lights, heated grips aswell as a rear rack mounted storage box and the front 'pannier' frame has gone. The bike however is in good clean condition and does look well cared for and starts on the button.

I just saw it this afternoon in the corner of my friends bike shop and thought it looked tough, interesting and just a bit different.(i'd only looked at Armstong MT500's over the last fifteen years but never bought one)

Might be a wee bit too expensive though!:blast

It's ...

... a quite different beast to the MT500 which was left-hand kickstart only; this could be challenging to say the least. Although the batteries on the 350's are small they are just about adequate to start from cold, and have a kicker for when it's hot :thumb

I have a 350 and 500 and ccm604
Love them all

350 is easy to start and runs on air compared to the 604
500 is a do a upper

Mt riders club has all tech and upgrades for all the bikes
Buy one ...........do it :D

just painted my mt just needs heated grips :friday

I've had the 500 and CCM's and a borrowed 350 for a while.

There's nought wrong with the 350, it's a good solid bike if not a bit bland. By all means get one for fun/'cos it's a bit different but they always seem rather over priced for what they are, you can get a lot more bike for the money if you're after a winter hack/green lane bike.

They are overpriced because it's the cheapest way of getting a log book with HD written on it. The bike is then normally broken for spares whilst the registration is transferred to some dreadful kit bike from America :blast

Thought about one for a good while. Hum'd and hawed, did a bit o' thinkin' (unusual for me) and thought, nope!

Bought a '98 Funduro with 20K on the clock, about a year ago, for about £500 less than the HD 350's were going for then. Prices the HD's are going for now make the BMW look really cheap.

Very happy with it. Sounds a bit like a washing machine, if that bothers you. Used to bother me, but no more. Like Tony Weller ' With width comes wisdom'. Crackin' bikes, BMW's best seller at the time, I believe. Them that has them tends to keep them. Entry level description seems to kill all interest for most folks. Do yourselves a favour and check them out. Getting hard to find.

Anything with HD or BMW on the tank means you'll probably get your money back, so worth a punt, if you enjoy it so much the better.

On a personal note, I don't want to ride around on a bike that makes me look like a refugee from the TA!:hide

If I want a bit o' noise out comes the 1200 Sportie!

A very Merry Christmas to you all!.:beerjug:
