HELP please,I have just replaced my clutch inc basket on my 2013LC and as soon as the engine was started there was a very loud harsh metallic tapping that seems to run at cam speed, sounds like it’s coming from the rh cylinder. I removed the clutch again to inspect/check as it’s the only thing touched but all looks ok, then took off the rh rocker cover to inspect as that’s where the sound seems to be & all looks ok (engine sounded fine before clutch change) Any idea’s would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

So it didn't do this before you changed your clutch ??

And it does the moment you had your basket out ??

FYI, the clutch basket drives the RH cam gears. It's an integral part of the valve train.

If you were to pull the clutch basket and tried to turn the engine over on the crank, the RH cam gears wouldn't move.

I would check the valve timing ASAP and don't run your engine again until you have. You need to set the motor to TDC on the crank. There is an inspection windown on the LH side.

If you don't have a manual or understand how to time a Boxer, then stop now and take it to a mechanic who does.
