i dont own one
BUT
i have read they will do a realistic 60mpg and you CAN get a pre-reg 08 with 1 mile on it and hard luggage from a dealers for £4k

it's a buyers market, cash in your pocket means you the shots even more than ever

haggle hard and stand your ground in the face of the seller be it private or trade

Timpo has proved it's more than capable offroad

The fuel injection is spot on ( one of the best i have tried on a bike )..The 650 Dakar i had was rubbish ...The vibs are very low for a single...The build quality looks pretty good...It handles and stops fine...Fuel range and economy are good...Hopefuly it will do what i want it too

i have been in coms with Timpo and others about the tenere

i have spoken with my local yamaha dealers and popping in on friday to have a good look at all 3 08 colourways as they dont have any 09's in stock yet

I phoned round 8 dealers pre-christmas, particularly for a white one and the best price i could get was £4330 deliveredand they have phoned me twice since. Fowlers and George White were not budging @ £4800. And none particularly wanted a p/x. Bridge offered me a straight swop for a fully loaded one for my Busa (yeh right i'll be right down ) Offered one locally @ £4400 with all the toys at cost, went back in last week and he can't do the toys as apparently Yam have recalled them due to problems with pannier hinges failing, not sure this is true maybe he is just welching on the deal but that stalled me a bit.
Also checked 2nd hand and none available i could find.
If you find one @ £4k let me know please

had a good chat with a salesman today and got down to a good price £4xxx a very good price actually but tbh i need to get a demo ride and no demonstrators about due to them selling like hot cakes...i am not spending around £4k on something i've not ridden

the salesman told me the 09 ones would be £5.2k otr but they cant get any in untill at least april.....no bother as i'm not in any real rush.....the only have three 08's left, two kahki and one black, NO white ones left at all my fiancee says she likes the 09 Blue in the brouchure best but likes all the other colours too so that's good tbh i could well just buy a 09 blue one if all goes well with the demo ride in a few months time


i like alot of features on the tenere like the towing eye under the bottom triple clamp and the neat little flexi indicators, it felt nice to sit on and no taller than my DRZ.. the seat was ALOT comfyer and the bars/pegs/mirrors are in good positions and the screen looks like it would give pretty good protection

No, could not find a dealer with a demo, sat on one and bounced about a bit it just felt right, seat / controls everything really. I had a drz sm and dominator, liked both and basically viewed it that yam would be even better and they were fetching what i was going to pay 2nd hand so arse covered.

i'm in no rush, untill i get a demo ride i wont be buying anything

i have been offered a ride on a privately owned one but dont want to ride it untill the roads are less icy and preferably dry so i can get a feel for it

All this talk and with some great pic's I thought I'd go take a look at the dealers yesterday,nice sales chappie pulled out a white one from the row of 5 xt's and bugger me-how tall is that bike !

I could not get on the thing.I'm 5'9 and have no issue with a GSA on a low seat or my KTM990 but the passenger seat is too high to swing your leg over.It cant be cut down due to the frame (would spoil the look anyway ).When I got on via the side stand being down both feet were swingingonyack. so no test ride for me.
So guess it's for all you tall ****ers.

i am only 5"10 and it felt no differant (height wise) to sit on than my DRZ400

i could get both feet on the ground at the same time comfortably (not just tip toes)

i am 72kilos (11stone) at the moment so maybe that helps squash it down a bit

Friend of mine has just got a good deal on one £4600 OTR
He is not easly pleased and has been umming and ahhing about what to buy for ages
He came and had a quick go on mine...Then went and ordered one

First ride out today on it..The pics says it all
