Might have a look at a GSA this weekend but I am vertically challenged (5ft6)
has anybody any experience of putting Gs shocks onto a GSA?

Does this lower it much?
Does it affect the geometry/handling

Thanks if anyone can help

Can be done easily................lowers the GSA by about 1-2"

Don't forget you need to also change the Centre stand for a GS one (unless your biceps are huge)

I did it.

I'm 5' 7" and I found it a struggle so I fitted std GS Ohlins.

Best thing I ever did!

Yep. I fitted standard GS length Shocks to mine. The sidestand is vastly improved with the shorter shocks. Just the main stand needs changing.

Yep,
Bought a pair of 1150 ohlins of johhnyboxer, swapped em to my GSA, it lowered it about a inch :thumb

Like others said though change the center stand aswell :thumb

Wish you hadn't, the GSA with Ohlins makes my bike a bit too tall now............Doh

I did too

I'm about 5'9" & using the std GS Ohlins also enabled me to use the normal GSA seat which I'm led to beleive is much more comfortable than the low seat, tho' @ 5'7" you might need the GSA low seat as well as the GS Ohlins to get the height right. Provided you can manage the height you'll have the best bike in the real world :D :D :D Enjoy

Oh & as for handling; Ohlins will always be better than o/e Showas, and the shortening of the travel over GSA o/e kit improves an already superb handling bike - on the road - allegedly ;)

Do you need to change both shocks? Is it a big job and how much does it cost?

Took me about a hour to change both, easy job :thumb

About 800 quid..ish for front and rear new,

Not sure about having to change em both :)

Agree with enabb, piece of cake - just watch how you take the o/e kit off - replace with Ohlins - pretty much direct reversal of removal. Useful to have a torque wrench & some locktite. Might sound obvious but do one at a time or bike will fall off its centre stand - numerous gumbies seem to have done this

I would imagine if you dont replace both:

1) You will not get the maximum degree of lowering.

2) You will get some "interesting" handling characteristics

Makes a brilliant bike rideable by us less lofty individuals - do it - & enjoy - you cant fail to :clap :clap
