Have I wasted my time?

Just did trhe fuel filter replacement on the 1150 whilst changing over to the ADV tank I just bought. Also put the filter on the outsied of the tank. I used Halfords Fuel injection Hose. Took me all day

Now for the problem, if it exists:
Is the Halfords Fuel injection hose petrol resistant on the outside as well as in?

If not, then it won't be long before my hose degrades and I need to replace it....

Reassurance needed, ASAP!!

don't want to worry you, but....

some fuel pipe is 2 layer & only the inner is petrol resistant.

before i did the mod, i got some pipe & put it in a jar of fuel for a couple of weeks. i then did the mod using the best of the tested samples, not all passed, in fact even the best was not as good as whatever bmw use.

it didn't matter, 'cos i took the external filter off again and put it back where it belonged as it looked cack, was only supposed to be changed every 24K, and would probably be fine if you left it for ever anyway

I looked at the fuel hose earlier and the two layers that are seperated by the mesh appear to be different colours, if only just, so it sounds like I need to go back in there!

I might contact Halfords to see, but I think I'd better start looking for a supply.

it might be alright. just because it's 2 layer doesn't mean it's not petrol resistant throughout, some is.

if you have time before you need the bike, bung an offcut in some petrol for a couple of days & see what happens

You need BMW K series inner fuel tank hose.

I didn't change my fuel filter until 48K-still working ok then.
I was in the process of fitting 30L tank/exterrnal filter as well.
Now decided to keep filter internal and avoid all the problems.If you need more fuel capacity,do the tank neck mod.
What i did consider doing was replacing the internal fuel filter with a short length of 8mm copper microbore pipe which re-uses the original internal flexible pipes and you dont get big loops of hose inside the tank.
