They are H&B Gobi panniers, and include a water jacket in the Thermo-plastic casing.

I think they are 35 ltrs each which means they look a bit goofy if you don't mount them symetrically. (new rack and exhaust  )

Unless you are traversing the desert or carrying chilled beer :thumb - they are a bit superfluous

I think H&B do a good set of aluminium panners, though :)

Have a look at their website or there may be a couple of posts on this site about them.

The Gobi panniers are plastic, or made of materiel like plastic. Saw them on the KTM at the NEC bike show.

They also do not hug the exhaust which means your bike is very wide at the back. Which is OK if you don't mind that. :nenau

They're about as good as you can get... but forget about London in rush hour. Serious cross country tackle, for loooong distances. Stronger than alluminium actually, crash well and keep their shape.

They're good :thumb

The Gobi's lose out on internal capacity because of their twin wall construction (the equivelent aluminium pannier from H&B would have a 43 litre capacity compared to the Gobi 35 litre) but they are a lot stonger and don't dent easily.

Hepco sell an optional kit which allows 3.5 litres of liquid to be carried in the gap between the outer and inner walls.

KTM have adpoted them as their official pannier and they are sold with their badges and logo.

All Hepco panniers use the same mounting frames so if you go for the gobi's and decide to change them for aluminium in the future it's pretty easy.

The hinge looked the weakest part to me. It's not a mechanical one, just a thinner strip of plastic that has to keep bending when opening and closing.

I don't have the Gobi's, but my H&B panniers (plastic) have been fantastic. Waterproof and durable. I don't think they make crap, so i'd take Mickys advice cos it looks like him and Sue gave them a good test.

My first impression also, but in reality that hinge is tough and has given no problems at all. Can't say that for the BMW alloy panniers for the 1150 Adventure

We stood Sue's 'bike on her Gobi pannier and it never marked it. Pal of mine in Germany crashed at 80mph and the Gobi panniers, although well marked, grazed and scuffed, still fitted, still closed, and were still watertight :thumb

As for Italian Trev saying they look :ymca

I was looking at a well used KTM Adventure which had them on. Seems they get marked and have that 'lived in' look fairly quickly but after that they seem fine. As stated the double thickness wall means the internal volume isn't what you'd think though.

Tough as old boots but not sure about the looks on a GSA. That may just be what we're used to though. :nenau

My MMs are still well cool though :D

Agreed on that - if I outgrow the Varios, the MMs are the ones to go for :thumb

(The Gobis will keep the beer cold, though  )

For Sale HB Alu Exclusive

I know this is probably the wrong thread for the For Sale stuff but:
I have a pair of HB Alu Exclusive Panniers for sale. One 30 one 40ltr with rails for GS 1200.

Fitted to the bike once only.

They have never been used and, apart from a bit of scuffing on the rails where I fitted them to my GS They are mint - as new.

The reason I am selling them is because I have sourced a pair of system panniers which are the ones I really wanted.

I will accept the closest price to the cost new price I can get.

May consider a swap for a Touratech or Sargent seat (pref heated)

Thanks.
