lost my one of these whilst changing the low beam H7 bulb at the side of the road.

It turns out you cant buy them seperately from the headlamp so its over £220

Yet again SBW have impressed me by sending out one FOC out of a spare unit they had lying around:thumb

These clips seem to be a common problem, see my thread of a few days ago re broken bulb clip and a fix for it.

The clip is held on by a screw but what it is held onto, the plastic rear of the light unit, seems to be very fragile and liable to break (which mine did).

I can't believe BMW can't supply a replacement clip on its own, someone should challenge them about this.

Might be worth poking around a scrapyard to see if any car headlights have the same clip. Alternatively, if you are a bit handy you could make a new one from piano wire (springy steel wire -often sold in toy/model shops) by copying the shape from the clip you still have.

A small brass washer with one edge bent down at right angles and held on with original screw makes a very effective clip retainer and doesn't break like the cra**y plastic original.

+1 - thats wot I did to.

Exactly same thing happened on my 07' GSA. The bulb went by the side of Loch Ness and when I fitted the spare, the clip broke.

BMW told me the plastic clips break through the heat from the bulb and the fact they are crappy plastic.

Luckily, the bike was under warranty and they had to change the entire lamp unit.

Crazy!
