Hi all,

2007 year 1200 GS ADV just under 6000 miles, mine from new no problems until now.

Was out yesterday on it, did 50 odd miles stopped for about 1/2 hour got back on started her up and warning came up LIGHT F, and also ABS Fault. Checked front head light low beam bulb not working so thought change bulb when I get back, tail light and brake light working fine and though ABS Fault is up brakes also seem to be working fine.

Travel back home go to change front bulb, check bulb when taken out all working (still tried spare bulb the same) terminals to bulb also fine & clean. Starting to get pissed off :spitfire, disconnected battery left for half an hour reconneced turned the ignition on let it do its check same fault came up :blast but I did notice while the bulb was out & connected it did get power for a split second then nothing.

Any body had the same problem or idea of a fix before I resort to main dealer.

Looking forward to all the crap that I will now be sent ie. Sell the bike.:blast

With an ABS fault as well, I'd be wondering about the state of the battery as one possibility.

Can you connect it to a charger for a bit to see if that makes a difference - you will need to connect directly to the battery.

Yes thanks I did that, no joy.

Shame :(

Guess you need to check both the brake levers are clear and the micro switches are operating correctly. And, check the rear bulb is actually 100% as it's clever enough to use one filament for both purposes if one fails :bow

Headlight almost sounds like there's a lead that's shorting to earth, the brief flash maybe the time the fuse lile thing takes to recognise the problem and to chop the power to the light. I've had the LIGHT F problem, but it was only the bulb that had gone. What ABS warnings did you have?

State of battery good, that did cross my mind so also checked and put it on charge last night, battery always charged direct to battery. many thanks

John, Not shore what went on but ABS warning has cleared its self, I checked brake levers they were fine I did that yesterday when out. I no what you are saying about the rear bulb but checked that yesterday. Now half an hour ago for no apparent reason ABS all OK.

Now just the light to sort out, have main beam and spot's working OK

Bulbs changed around old dipped bulb works fine in high beam position, checked wiring in head light unit with metre no power coming from main wiring loom for low beam. Now trying to trace wiring loom to check like you said that it is not running to earth some were.

I seem to recall a way back that to clear Lamp F you may need to switch on then Start, switch off, start again. Nothing to lose:D

Fixed,:bounce1 turned out to be loom cover worn on frame edge were there was a bit of rather sharp welding left, :eek:so grounding power supply to low beam. Not kidding it was so small I missed it 3 times when checking the loom,:blast noticed slight scuff on loom tape when looking harder there was an area the size of a ball point pen head just showing some strands of wire. It won't happen again repaired & protected, many thanks for the help.: :D

Sorry John do not fancy taking it all apart again, I should have thought of that.
Any way good to get out on it today with every thing back to normal, must now book it in for its 6000 service.
