I have recently bought 100w H1 bulbs to upgrade originals, but have been advised by my BMW Dealer not to do this as there maybe too much heat generated, has anyone done this? any probs? is there any other upgrade people have tried and works?
Cheers Peat

Best to put the PIAA 55W bulbs in that generate 110W which is safe for the system and a very good result.

NN suplies them.

:D

Or even better put HID in  really good, pm me if you want info and pictures.

:D

Fromwhat I have learnt from others........

100 watt bulb will eventually harden the insulation due to extra heat / loading, this may cause the wire to fracture long term.

Either fit extra lights, (try using the search feature). Try adjusting the dipped beam, so that the 'V' light pattern is equal both sides. Try PIAA bulbs, no experience of these but rated at over 100 watts but only consume same (or less?) than standard. But regardless of this the light pattern is shite anyway

Before I'd finished you were there Les :thumb

Save your money on fancy bulbs, convert both lamps HID
quich, easy , and uses only 35 watt each
only down side its not cheap, will cost you about 230ish for good waterproof units with g'tee from HIDS4 U

You could always try wiring up some relays to the standard bulbs - see ebbo's website for more information on how to do this, together with a list of parts required - This should ensure that you actually get more voltage onto the bulb and the light output should consequently be brighter.

That would make the projector headlight even hotter.

False economy anyway, its the reflector thats the problem. You need a BIG increase of light(HID) or cheaper to fit spots and fogs on a bar IMO. ;)

I wasn't referring to fitting the relays to the 100w bulbs! Don't want to see Peat's bike go up in flames now do we....

If fitted to the original 55 watters an increase in light output should be gained without too much of an increase in the amount of heat generated.
