Headlamp Protector Options for 2017 Rallye / Rallye Sport

For owners of the new 2017 Rallye / Rallye Sport, can I ask what types of headlamp protectors you've fitted that work well ?

The new Rallye seems to have far fewer "mounting fit" points for a headlamp protector.

Is this BMW simplifying the design or making it harder for the aftermarket specialists ......

After some brief research I decided not too. I ride at night and the BMW one has refraction issues making it not suitable for night time riding and it isn't a quick removal. Rizoma and Nippy Normans also provide options.

I've had one headlight broken in over 200, 000 miles of riding across 3 decades
I just cut paint protection film to shape and stuck that on to stop scratches from scrubbing off insects, works great and cost pennies.

Ps the dealer I bought it from said they've never had a broken headlight on a gs yet, they're pretty tough.

Ah. I've had several cracked and chipped GS headlight glasses over the years of riding various GS motorcycles; all of them from ordinary road traffic where buses, cars and lorries have "spat" small stones/chippings etc just as I happened to be in the line of fire.

I consider headlamp glass protection to be a key item on the Top 10 list of accessories, especially with my luck.

Someone in a previous post did mention the screens are made of a Gorilla Glass type material so no protection is needed.That said at £1000 a repalcement I went for one of these on my standard BMW similar to that used at BMW Wales made by a well known manufacturer of parts
