Headlight adjustment with HIDs

Question for anyone who's got HID headlights that rides at night...
Do you get flashed a lot and if not how far down are your lights pointing?

I've had to lower them considerably from where they were with normal bulbs. This has stopped oncoming traffic flashing me but I still get flashed quite frequently after passing someone. Any ideas?

Must say they are very very good on dipped and immense on full beam.

Had to turn mine down as well, no problem then, unless i adjust the rear spring.

Do you have two hid fitted and are they 50w or 35w? asking as I seem to have a problm at the moment, mine will not work the 35w on high beam, it works on the low and a 50w works on the low.
just about to swop them all around again and try the 50w on the high

I have a similar problem with 2 50w hids I got from Colebatch......dipped works fine but main beam only worked intermittently, (would just flicker briefly)...swapped bulbs and ballasts and traced fault to the bulb which had started to melt the plastic which it is housed in. Anyway Colebatch is going to replace the bulb (thanks mate ) I just hope that was the problem and not some other underlying issue

I've got the 50w's from Colebatch and due to some issues I've been having haven't quite managed to install them properly yet but I was wondering whilst looking at them, how do you change the bulb? Is it the bulb or do you get the whole wiring malarchy short of the balast?

Sorted the problem now, my 35w is the HID4U Pilot ballast which is an expensive bit of kit but it will not work on the high beam due to the Canbus system.

So it looks like its on its way to the FS & W section.

yes you change the bulb (Burner) with the wires attached to back, and plug two into the light plug and the other into the ballast.

Yep ... the bulb and associated wiring is all stuck together, so you change that last foot or so of wiring with the bulb

Getting back to the original question, I never had to adjust mine when Les put my HID in. I went to my usual dealer, who does MOT's and asked them to check the throw. I sat on the bike as normal and they checked, no difference at all. Sometimes I get flashed but thats mainly cause they are not used to a bike with such a brilliant light and I just ignore it.

Glad someone else is getting flashed - I've been getting a bit paranoid about it.

Les - I've got dip and main beam with 35 watt 8000 do dars. No light out signals and both worked first time once I'd figured out which way round the pos and neg wires went.

I get the occasional flash and people I'm following putting their rear foglights on to alert me to their assumption that I've left main beam on. A flash in return usually puts them right.
