Headlight bulb upgrade?

Pretty sure my 2005 instruments are held onto the headlight unit by3off torx screws.
The headlight is,in turn, held in by bolt each side and a locating pin on the base.

+1 for hid setup, dip only required. Careful inserting bulb as it is easy to knock the reflector off the adjuster.
Use or hid bulbs designed for a reflector setup is recommended ie H7R.

Here's a video I took at night after installing the Canbus-35 from HID50.com in the low beam only. I found the installation easy without the need to remove the headlight assembly.

I don't have a before video unfortunately.

Sorry hadn't clicked publish once it had finished uploading :-(

Should work now.

Get a twin 55w HID set up from Les Wassal. 4600k dipped beam and 6000k main beam with a fast bright ballast. You may also want the ballast mounting bracket too.

Anything else is a waste of money :beerjug:

Thanks, but I haven't got a clue when it comes to electrics, so not sure id be able to install that kit, which is why I wanted to just swap the bulbs out. But I see Mr Wassal is in Cheshire and does a fitting service. Maybe ill contact him to discuss further, though I think he's currently on his way to Maritius for his 25th wedding anniversary.

By the way, whats a ballast? Is it kind of a control panel/transformer?

The hardest part about a HID conversion is working out how to mount the ballast (control box) . It all comes as a kit with plugs that will only go together the correct way. No additional wiring is needed. One plug goes into the original bulb connector, another into the ballast and 2 connectors to connect the new bulb (proper name is the burner) and job done.
If Les is near you then great, if not then don't sweat it and either just buy the kit from him or get it from eBay. Make sure it is canbus compatible and spend the extra on the ceramic and metal burners as well as using the proper reflector ones. The ceramic and metal ones are so much easier to fit and are usually better quality all round.

Thanks. I don't suppose there are any photo guides on here for the parts that need removing?

Dervman, the lights look good on your video:thumb2

If you can change a bulb, then you can install an HID kit. Les' instructions are really fool proof. They even tell you when to take a drink of tea/coffee :D

I have recently fitted a used Les Wassal kit.
Dead easy though the beak has to be removed and it was worth taking the headlight off.
The alloy boxes are carried on a stainless plate made by Les. The three ballast blocks had to be zip tied to the crash bars. I'll have to try some other positions.

So does the Les Wassai kit come with instructions explaining how all the parts come off? I accept it might be easy but when you've never done it before you just don't know.

Philips Xtreme are the best IMHO, had a couple of Nightbreakers go west.

This code will get you 15% off at Powerbulbs.co.uk and free bluevision sidelight bulbs BRITSKPB15

You can't beat one of Les's HID kits though ;)

Just found this video, here they remove the beak and instrument panel, and then drill out the bulb cover to pass the larger bulbs through..

Les's kit's come with pre-drilled and fitted bulb covers and a custom stainless steel bracket that mounts using the oil cooler fittings to carry the ballasts.
