Changed my headlight bulb a couple of days ago due to failure....where's the problem I hear you say....today the LCD diagnostic is showing the same fault as when the bulb had blown when the bulb is fine and working..

Any ideas !?!

...1200..

Mmm sorry...yes its a 1200..

Refitted with a H7 55w bulb....same as the previous..

Duff connection on startup? intermitent connection? filament only connecting sometimes (it happened to me) Lidls are doing 2 x 50% extra H7s next week for about £3. Get them, then you can afford to play about.

Are you sure that it's not the tail-light that has blown (as well)? The system powers the brake-light at half-power to maintain light at the rear when the filament blows.

Fixed it! :thumb

Funnily enough, my dipped headlight failed yesterday morning within 30 seconds of riding off to work. I bought a replacement bulb at a garage and fitted it. The diagnostic warning went out and all is well. I wish I'd known about the Lidl deal - I paid £10 at a BP garage  - but I was trying to get it fixed in between customers taking their tests, so I didn't have a lot of time to wander around. I think I'll have to put a spare bulb kit back onto the bike (and a toolkit  ).

I've got smallish hands. I wouldn't like to try and change the bulb if my hands were much bigger - not a lot of room to work in.

Just been to Lidls and picked up their flyer for next week's offers. H7's are indeed £3.99 for a pair, either "blue" or "+50%".

Now, quality notwithstanding, are all H7's the same? By which I mean, will they definitely fit?

They also have other dead chep offers - 5L screenwash and hydraulic jack look like particularly good value at £.99 and £9.99 respectively.

They fit. Haven't blown in the last 4000 miles for me. Cheapest upgrade available & they don't seem to dim so much when you put the brakes on. Be there early on Monday, the dealers snap them up fast.

When my bulb blew, I replaced the bulb and the fault light stayed on....it only cleared once I'd started and driven the bike for a short period. Took me a little by surprise as i'd thought that replacing the bulb and then letting the system do its self check would have been enoug to have cleared the fault, seem like the bulb check only takes place after the bike has been started up, and of course the front light is on!

... There is a gremlin that showed me a failed bulb warning and the tail-unit was devoid of illumination.

... It wouldn't reset or reignite the blackpool illuminations when I replaced the bulb (the original appeared to be fine?). However after a couple of re-starts the error cleared, never to re-appear since.

... The ghost of Joseph Lucas is lurking in the can-bus!

Managed to buy a couple of sets (one "+50%", one "Blue"). The Lidl bulbs have two connectors on the bulb on rather than three, which is what I'm used to seeing. Is this normal? Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance,

Robin.

Two connectors are correct for this type of bulb. The 1200 lights have a seperate hi and lo bulbs. The three connector bulbs are usually "twin" filament bulbs ie hi and lo in one bulb.

Mind you maybe they should have three and thats why Lidl can sell them so cheap....only joking...

So, after all these helpful suggestions... have you fixed it?
I've the same problem with mine, changed a blown dip bulb, but the warning stays on.
Just a thought... I had mine serviced a few weeks ago, along with a 'software update'. It wouldn't be another 'issue' with the latest update, would it?

not yet...
